“Terrific Experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 6, 2013

We were in London for the holidays and stayed at this hotel for a full week. We searched numerous hotels in almost every area of London, as we wanted to make it a memorable Christmas and because it was going to be an extended stay. We could not have been happier with our choice. The staff had decorated the hotel for the season and went above and beyond to make our stay pleasant. Further, the neighborhood has everything you need...a tube stop, market, pub, restaurants, bike rentals and atm machine all right across the street. After reading other posts we also chose a club room for the extra space and were pleased with our decision. We did request to switch to a room on the top floor after the first night, as the floors are old and creaky and I am a light sleeper. Again, the staff was more than accommodating and extremely friendly. I could not have been happier with our choice of hotels. The location was perfect, the staff was terrific and the accommodations were exactly what we needed.

Room Tip: If you are a light sleeper, you might want to request a room on the top floor.

Arrived News years eve to catch a show and attend the celebrations on the Thames.Staff very friendly and courteous.Rooms (Room 427) very tidy and clean.Bed very comfortable .Couldn't ask for anything better in London.
Yes its a old hotel, but it has character and a charming appeal to it.Sometimes I get sick of staying in modern cold looking hotels, but this has a bit of grandeur to it with its grand staircase and highly polished lifts, and creaking floors. We loved it.
Didn't eat in Hotel as we had made plans to eat elsewhere during our stay. But the menus looked good ,others had recommended that the food was superb.

Step over the road and you are at the Gloucester road tube station. For the Picadilly /Circle line.Ideal for Covent garden etc.

Plenty of bars and restaurants in close proximity as well Tesco extra and Waitrose.

Stayed here two nights and loved staying here( We have stayed at quite a few those that follow my reviews) Hotel Ideal for the tube and in a relative quiet area in London.

We both said that we will come back as its so relaxed and above all the staff provide a great service on our New years stay. Thanks guys.

So what more can I say?.Will eat in the restaurant next time.....and ..If your in London try this hotel.

Room Tip: 4th floor seemed very quiet

Booked 2 adjacent rooms; one twin, one double - for three of us - mum, dad and adult teenager - for two nights just before New Year. There was some attempted negotiation by receptionist to swap the twin room for a single (because of single occupancy) with an offer of free wifi in the room in exchange. But not pleased with this idea when single turned out to be a tiny box with a pokey shower room, but this was quickly resolved when we objected and we were given a lovely large twin we paid for. No further issues after that at all. Staff very friendly indeed, very accomodating, couldn't have been more polite and obliging. Everyone smiled at us and doorman was very friendly too. Breakfast was very good indeed and generally couldn't find a fault with any member of staff or aspect of the hotel. We didn't use the restaurant as the menu prices and selections didn't fit with our plans/appetites but I would have no qualms in recommending it as meals looked very good and we had drinks from the bar. The hotel is obviously old and the floors slope quite bizarely and one minor grumble was that the floors creak quite badly so any footsteps and movements can be heard clearly from the room above. The hotel appears well maintained and is standard for a hotel of four stars in London. We've stayed in Copthorne Tara, Kensington Spa and others similar around Kensington and this hotel was on a parr with those, very comfortable beds. Rooms were very clean, though could re-stock coffee, tea and biscuits for subsequent nights and no hot chocolate sachets which was slightly disappointing. I rarely like to have a bath in hotels due to being unsure of how well it was last cleaned, but no concerns here when I came in cold from our visit to Winter Wonderland in Hyde Park at night. The bath (shower over) was right under the large sash window though, and although I was on the fourth floor and you would need to be spiderman to see in - it felt a bit odd that there are no blinds to pull down so I had a bath with the bathroom light off and with the bathroom door open! Despite those little issues I would recommend this hotel. I would use this hotel again. We have stayed in many 4 star hotels in London and Europe and this is about normal for the standard you should expect, in fact the staff on duty Christmas 2012 were the gem of the place that makes it worth a visit over other hotels.

Very conveniently located literally opposite tube running district, circle and picadilly line from there but engineering work meant only picadilly line was running for the two days of our stay which was a bit of a pain. Very close to Kensington Gardens and literally outside the front doors of the hotel there are rentable bicycles which you shouldn't overlook as an alternative to the tube as they can be dropped off almost anywhere and the hire charge is very reasonable. Coming out of Winter Wonderland in Hyde Park at night we went through the path at the edge of the park, but wouldn't recommend this as though as Mrs W was followed by an undesirable for services! (forgot for a minute that we were in London so stay together). There is a pub opposite the hotel which serves food - burgers, fish and chips, pies etc, very nice sponge pudding - which was what we were looking for on our first night and a Tesco Express next door to the pub for that (discrete) bedroom bottle of wine. There are a good selection of other restaurants in a short walking distance and very good menu choices. A nice Indian Restaurant attached to the hotel. All in all, recommended.

Travelled from Australia with a friend. Great hotel, so easy to access from anywhere with the tube stop being so close to the hotel. This saved us from dragging our luggage around too much and from getting lost! Tube stop is also in zone 1 which makes it super cheap to get around to all the must see sights. Great hotel, would definitely stay here again.

I would like to begin by expressing my most sincere thanks to the wonderful people who work at this hotel, I have stayed in many hotels in London (my biggest sin is not reviewing them) and this is by far the one that ticks virtually all the boxes.

When the group of four of us arrived we thought the 'close to the tube' description was like most, quite vague. However this is certainly close to 'Gloucester Road' tube, from the exit, take a right and cross the road and you are on the doorstep. You will then likely be greeted by a cheerful doorman and proceed to the reception desk. The lady promptly booked us in and took payment, one of our rooms was not ready but we were an hour early so no fault on the hotels part.

We stayed in club rooms 222 and 322 on the corner of the building, by the main road. Despite this the rooms are quiet from external sound and are only every now and again pierced by the odd emergency vehicle. (always typical of the city).
The decor of the rooms is quite dated, by choice of the management I expect to keep in touch with the classic aesthetic of the building. The bathrooms, even in the club rooms would really benefit from some sort upgrading, there is 'classic' and then there is 'old', unfortunately these are the latter, though clean and well maintained and with plenty of provisions, they are cold looking, white tiled, with old taps with average pressure and the toilet flush was weak. The shower was okay with the expception of the 'notch left is very hot and a notch right is very cold' controls (maybe only our room).
The bedroom was extremely spacious with sofa and lounge chairs and a excellent bed, the sleep we all had and i personally stated the following morning, was the most comfortable and rested of any i have had in any hotel, for this i commend the hotel highly.
One last recommendation to the hotel, get them lightbulbs checked! Dotted around the hotel (including our room) were lightbulbs that had popped leaving in our room in particular, pockets of darkness making it look gloomy.

One of the many perks of the Club room package aside from the large rooms is the use of the club lounge which is well stocked with free coffee, coke and water, among some Alpen bars and crisps, this was lovely and made us feel very exclusive.

The breakfast, though nice, was typical buffet. I hoped for something a bit more special but though it was not the worst, nor was it the best. My biggest despair and even for a hotel that felt like it was oozing luxury they could not provide fresh juices, the orange juice especially tasted weak and watered down. Towards the end of service the serving area was getting rather messy but the staff were working extremely hard and it was busy and it never got unsightly. The food was nice and there was extra selection at a cost, like waffles, pancakes and fish if you wished.

Millenium Baileys was truly in its element in this festive period, with wonderful decorations it looked truly beautiful in the reception/lobby.
At a time of year that i can only imagine is tiring and stressful for the staff with the increased number of visitors and the pressure to really give a good impression, the staff of this hotel truly make it a wonderful place to stay. From the cheerful reception staff to the cleaners popping the odd "hello" or "Happy New Year", even to the delicous complimentary fudge delivered to us by the management with a wonderful greetings card (personally signed) topped off with the Champagne flutes we requested (given with no hesitation) to allow our group to toast to the New Year in style.

There is alot that makes this hotel a lovely place and despite a couple of negatives, this place is the only hotel i have ever stayed in that radiates a character all of its own.

Thank you and a Happy New Year to all at 'Millenium Baileys Hotel'.

Room Tip: If you can afford it get the club rooms, if not aim for 'deluxe' or 'superior' as th...

Hotel choices in London are overwhelming so I'm so glad we booked this one. It's a gem -- amenities you want with charming atmosphere. The location is excellent for Tube access to all major sites. The Gloucester Road tube station is directly across the street. The neighborhood is nice with several small restaurants and a pub across the street and yet we had very little street noise. Our twin room (4th floor) was a good size and comfortable. Breakfast was very good as far as quality and variety. All the staff members we met were helpful and friendly. Two events impressed me. The concierge went out of his way to assist us by making repeated calls to book a tour for us and then texted me when it was confirmed. And when we discovered at the last minute that the Tube did not run early enough to get us to Heathrow for our flight home the desk clerk booked us a car at a very reasonable rate. The intimate bar was a great place to finish the day. Will definitely stay here on my next London trip.

We popped in to see if the hotel could accommodate our last-minute decision to stay in the area. Because of our last minute inquiry, I did not have high expectations in terms of room selections and was happy that that the would accommodate us. It was a weekday and although the hotel was not sold-out, they offered us a tiny room (I have travelled extensively in Europe - and the room was TINY). The room was immaculate and offered luxurious linens and a large cozy bed with which I happily sunk into.

The hotel staff that evening were helpful with our requests, despite answering questions to a bare minimum. Fortunately the hotel is situated in a location that is rich with dining options so we didn't have to bother the hotel staff too much. Location-wise, there is a tube station around the corner and a Tesco across the street.

Humphrey's Bar offered a nice selection of cocktails and was popular even with the locals. It was not too crowded and the live acoustic guitar music provided a nice ambience for a lovely bar. Drinks and cocktails are reasonably priced (£9/glass of wine or £7/whisky).

Despite the service did not meet my expectations for the kind of money spent at such a luxury hotel, I would give this hotel another try for a romantic getaway.
