“Basic standard, good location”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed yesterday NEW

Great location for heart of london, we stayed as a group of three and they provided a sofa bed for third. Spacious room, clean + tv, tea and coffee, hairdryer. Go higher floor for a room with a better view

Stayed January 2014, traveled with friends

Good location, corridors looked shabby, room was basic as expected but clean and fresh. Have stayed here before and will probably stay again due to location. However we had some noise from another room which delayed getting to sleep so some caution

Great hotel, great location, great prices, would definitely recommend if you want to stay within the Covent Garden area, only a few minutes walk to the hussle and bussle of Covent Gardens. The rooms were spacious and clean and the beds were very comfortable, there was no noise from inside the hotel but quite a bit of noise coming from the traffic at night, not enough to stop me from sleeping though.

Majority of staff very welcoming and helpful. Excellent location to all areas we were planning to visit. Holborn and covent garden tube 5 mins walk. We had room 711 which was very comfortable with good views. We did not experience any noise. Will be using travel lodge covent garden again when we next visit London.

The point of Travelodges and similar budget chains is that they're cheap but efficient. You're not looking for a luxury hotel experience - and you don't get one - but you do get a clean and functional room with no frills.

BUT in recompense it's supposed to be cheap - or at least good value and - I'm sorry - £189 for spartan a room and no breakfast even in Central London is close to theft.

Never again - not for at least £70 less.

Well situated for sightseeing, etc. But ... quilt really thin. 1 teabag each in room. Pillows and matress sponsored by Blue Circle cement. So don't waste your money unless you don't mind not sleeping ...

We have just returned from a three night pre Christmas long weekend which was excellent - with the sole exception of this hotel.

On the positive side the room was very clean, but that's about it.

With regard to the negatives:-

On day one we were directed to floor 6 of the wrong tower. Then when we got to our room we were surprised not to find either a telephone or a hairdryer. Neither were a serious problem, just annoying.

On day two both our keycards failed and the room was not cleaned by 5pm. By the time the cleaners arrived we were getting ready to go out for the evening, so we ended up swapping used towels for fresh ones, but nothing more.

On day three the keycards failed once again, meaning another trip down six floors to get them renewed once more. The room was not cleaned properly and we weren't left any toilet rolls - another trip down six floors to reception. They weren't finished with us either as the fire alarm gave a 2 or 3 second bursty at about midnight, followed by about another 10 second burst at 1am. No explanation was given the following morning.

The internet service was dire. 30 minutes free, then £3 for 24 hours. The service is intermittent, and to make things worse. on Saturday 20 December the internet service was down from early morning to early evening....after paying £3 for it.

As we were in the Drury lane part of this two part hotel, the only access is via steps. If you have heavy bags be prepared to have to lug them up and down.

All in all we will not be returning to this hotel.
