It’s a Hilton, so you expect the staff to be polite, friendly and efficient, the rooms & public areas to be clean, the décor to be reasonably stylish. The Waldorf Hilton manages all of these.

Stayed for one night in a Superior Room, July 07. Everything you want / need was there. Decent amount of lighting in the bedroom, though the bathroom ( IMHO ) could have done with a bit more.

Even the bathroom ( I suspect it’s quite new ) showed no signs of “grime” which, for some reason, always manage to blight even the newest of suites at some of the top hotels around the world. The walk in shower cubicle was a decent size ( no annoying shower-over-bath ), water pressure could’ve been better. For some reason we couldn’t get the shower “hot”( it was warm enough, just not hot, and yes, we did press & turn the temp. controller ).

Breakfast was ok ( much better then the Millenium who have a celebrity chef ) – good choice of hot and cold dishes, the full English was hot & properly cooked. Even the coffee tasted quite good.

Location is excellent - Covent Garden ( 2 minutes walk ). The Eye is about 5 minutes away.

The key question – would we stay there again ? Yes, probably.

  • Liked — Clean rooms / public areas, efficient staff, nice decor
  • Disliked — Price, but it is London

The hotel itself was very nice. Helpful and attentive staff. I stayed at the Waldorf as a romantic theatre break to see Dirty Dancing and Lord of the Rings. The hotel is an ideal location the theatre land.

My package was 2 nights, executive room, queen bed, dinner on 1st night, 2 breakfast's.

Positive points:
+Fast and efficient check in and depature, although they did spend rather too long trying to explain the hotel facilities/dinning etc. However I guess it's better to be told than avoided.
+Attentive and polite staff throughout.
+Breakfast had a wide choice. Continental was included in our package (£16 each otherwise), hot breakfast is £22 per person, therefore we would have had to pay £6 extra each if we wished that option. Personally, the cold breakfast had a wide choice so we were happy with that.
+Dinner was excellent. Again, we had on nights dinner included in our package (which we were able to change from our 1st nights stay to the 2nd night). We had the option of choosing from the set menu (3 course) each with no additional charge. Or from the À la carte, with a maximum spend of £25 each. Therefore I would asume the 3 course set menu is £25 pound per person. On of us had set menu, the other À la carte. Both were excellent. Both filling. Dessert's were to die for. Recommend leaving enough space for the desserts, we did not! Approx dinning time 90-105 minutes (although was fairly empty when we sat to dine at 6.30pm).
+Room clean on arrival and cleaned twice daily.

Negative points:
+Room advertised was executive with queen bed. However, the room did not seem large enough. Had plasma TV, desk area, seat either side of bed, wardrobe area, and a small bathroom. For the money spent, £368, the bathroom was too small. The 'queen bed' was two single beds pushed together. I do not need to go into too much detail to explain the a romantic break was not enjoyable with bottoms between beds! I did however not complain at the time of my stay, but I will be forwarding my views via email.
+The gym/pool free usage for guests was not upto quality standards. It is a gym that is part of the LA Fitness group and open to guests of the hotel and paying members. The gym seems small and crowded with equipment. The pool facilities were dirty and in need of attention. For such a 'quality' hotel, to have such poor conditions around the pool area was shameful. I felt no luxury beside the pool. The sign on the door of the steam room told of the need of repair to the tile work inside. The steam room itself was tiny, enough for maybe 4 persons, and the tiles missing indeed made it feel dirty and unkept. You could not sit near the missing tiles for risk of injury.
+The bill after dinning had to be adjusted after I noticed they had charged for 3 main meals, when only two of us dinned.
+The bill for the room had to be adjusted as there was a charge for items from the inroom mini bar. We had not consumed anything from the mini bar. However everything in the fridge has an electronice sensor. As there is a lack of space in the fridge, and we tried to squeeze in our free mineral water into it, it must have mislodged chargeable items inside. This was explained and bill was corrected.

Overview:

Hotel clean, staff pleasent, food good quality. Gym/pool area lacking quality. Room/bed description take with a pinch of salt. Check bills as they made mistake in dinning room and mini bar charge.

My wife and I used Hilton HHonors points to stay three nights here, following three nights at the Hilton London Tower Bridge Hotel. The latter is very modern with great rooms and service, but is a bit out of the way for some people (having been to London we liked the alternative South Bank of the Thames location). The Hilton London Waldorf draws on the Waldorf name, implying more than it is. It's nice, a bit older than most with strange imposition of a very modern bathroom and glass wall decorations and modern lighting in a rather traditional room with high ceilings and crown molding. The two very different styles clash. There was somewhat worn carpeting under the bed, but the outer room flooring was tile. It was quiet, in spite of the busy outside location. Clearly the location is the strongest suit here, with walking distance to the theatre district, Covent Gardens, SoHo, the National Gallery and National Portrait Gallery, the British Museum and other spots. We had a wonderful stay, but it's just not anything special if you're looking for value. We had good value using Hilton HHonors points, but if we had to pay the rack rate, or even 50% rack, we'd have been disappointed. One minor caution: there's no ice available on hotel floors, you have to order from room service, and the mini-bar has pressure sensitive monitors such that if you even move a bottle of juice or water, it automatically charges you (easily reversed, but a nuisance).

This is the third or forth time I have been lucky enough to stay at The Waldorf, a stylish and contemporary hotel in a fantastic location.

I have had rooms of varying size and style, all very comfortable. The bathroom arrangements in some of the rooms may not be to everyone's taste. The room I had this time around had the bath and shower opposite the bed with a separate WC...shy people beware! All the usual amenities were present, plasma TV, decent toiletries, bath robes and best of all for London on a hot summers night...great air-conditioning.

There public areas are stylish and quite glam including a very nice Patisserie that turns into a Champagne Bar after 6.00pm - expensive but worth it. I'm not keen on the bar at the hotel, the ambience is lacking in something...but I'm not sure what. However, the cocktails are very good and the staff charming.

Didn't have the opportunity to eat in the restaurant this time around but have done in the past. It’s a great space to spend an evening with good food and attentive service.

Overall, I enjoy staying at The Waldorf but the question is ‘Is it worth £350.00 per night?’ I think so, but you may not.

After reading many reviews here I thought that I should definitely give my opinion of the Waldorf! I traveled with my husband and two teens last month. We stayed for 3 nights and I booked two rooms. I transferred American Airlines points to my husband's silver Hilton Honors account. Considering that the rooms were going to be $600 each per night, I thought that trading the points was a good value. London is outrageously expensive with our terrible exchange rate! The hotel is located right next to the Aldwych theater where we saw Dirty Dancing ( Fantastic show)! It is a small boutique feeling hotel which seems to be newly refurnished. The decor is modern and fun! The rooms are quite large and the beds comfortable, although a bit soft. The negatives were that the rooms on the street side were noisy. The first night we stayed on the interior side but wanted to switch to a King bed the next night. The first night was super quiet and the next two nights were not. The mornings were noisy with noise from the street starting quite early. There was some confusion with breakfast for us. When I asked the night manager for a complimentary continental breakfast with our Hilton Honors, he offered it to us. We had it one morning. There was a cold buffet that was average with fruit, pastries, cereal, etc. and then you could order something hot from the menu. It wasn't bad but outrageous at L22 ($40 each). They brought us a bill to sign and we were told that it was not complimentary. After inquiring at the front desk we were told that the night manager was new and he made a mistake. They removed the charges, thank goodness! We are not big breakfast eaters so we made do with a little cafe down the street. This hotel is not very close to a tube station. It is in between 2 stations, both are about a 10 minute walk. Not such a big deal unless it is raining. We did like the location because it was not in such a busy area like the nearby covent gardens. Concierges and doormen were helpful and friendly! Hope this helps!
