“What a Party!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 27, 2011

We had a birthday party here on Sunday 24th July and it was fabulous.

One guest wrote “......Particularly striking was the very high level of expertise and charm employed by all the serving staff at Cannizaro House. Nothing was too much trouble for them. It is a real pleasure to encounter highly-trained people of such calibre and personality”.
Another said "The hotel is a great location and the food and wine was perfect."

The hotel still retains the feel of a private manor that's been beautifully modernized. The location is very convenient on Wimbledon's main common. It appears that the grounds in back have been converted to a public park, but it doesn't diminish the experience. Service is very accommodating and efficient. Rooms have been wonderfully updated. Beds are extremely comfortable & bathrooms very nicely updated. A complimentary flask of port is also a nice touch. Breakfast in dining room is incredibly well done and very tasty.

Hotel appears to do a very big business in corporate events & weddings, so factor that into account if you are looking for a quiet getaway. Only complaint is that I asked for an adpator, which was quickly provided - only to find out at checkout that I had been charged a rental fee which exceeded the cost of the unit.

From the greeting at the door as we arrived until the moment that we checked out we were thoroughly well treated. Staying for just one night as a base for visiting Wimbledon tennis we were thoroughly impressed with the professionalism and attentiveness of the service. They even lay on free luxury transport to and from anywhere in Wimbledon!. This is not a large faceless hotel rather it is in the style of a country house compete with live entertainment in the lounge and a first class chef in the kitchen. The bedroom we had was not huge however it was quiet, clean and with a great view of the common.

My son,and now daughter in law held their wedding at this venue which was an amazing experience, We spent 2 nights 3 days . The staff were very attentive and couldn't do enough for us!!

The rooms were suites (the party occupied 9 of them and each room was better than the next. A nice touch with the decanter of port. The wedding was fabulous and the breakfasts second to none.,also the quiet and relaxed setting was excellent.

EXpensive - but you only get what you pay for!!

Room Tip: We occupied the side garden room which was lovely.

I regularly stay in London and prefer to stay in this hotel rather than in the City. Great staff, great rooms, great view over the Common - I love their breakfast and the ambience of the bar/restaurant. I will be back soon.
