“Good Family Room”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed February 2, 2013 via mobile

We stayed for 3 nights as a family of 4 in October 2012. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. We had the loft room on the ground room behind the reception. Great for family's with a double and two single beds up high in the loft. Being on the ground floor we were out the door and in Earls Court tube station within 3 minutes. Would stay there again.

2 mins from earls court tube station this b and b is clean, comfortable and probably the best b and b I've stayed in London. It's a bit out of central London but not far on the tube. Earls court is a bit grimy but the hotel cannot be faulted. Highly recommend.

I've already stayed a few times in the Earl's Court area, each time in a different hotel so it was a matter of time that I would try out Amsterdam Hotel :p

To be honest, if it wasn't for the discount on Bookings.com (106£ instead of 180£ for a triple room), the hotel would have been out of my budget range. If I had to pay the full amount, I would have rated it an average price/quality value.

First of all, Amsterdam Hotel is very well located. It is at the beginning of a side street of the main road and about 3 min walk to the tube station where you can catch the Picadilly or District line. There also seems to be quite a lot of bus stops on the main road, but I'm not sure where they go to. The hotel has 24h reception, so you don't have to hurry back before a certain curfew.

Our triple room was quite spacious with two double beds, so it can even fit 4 people in it. I was even impressed by the bathroom size. Instead of carpet, they have installed a woodboard floor so you would definitely notice if the floor was dirty. However, the room was spotless. And the room being on the first floor, we had a very good reception of the free wifi.

The only downside was the really tiny flatscreen and there was only socket available. With two smarthphones, a camera and an ordinary mobile, it was quite a hassle to charge them all fully. Also the towels weren't changed during the 3 nights we were there. This isn't really a problem, but just something we noticed.

There is an elevator available, but it is really very small. Since it was only one floor up, one of us took the luggage up via the lift and the others took the stairs.

Breakfast was included in the price and it was presented as a continental buffet. It is a very small buffet I have to say, but I wasn't hungry anymore after I finished. There was toast, cereal, fruit, a cake, yoghurt and baked beans avaible. The breakfast room only has about 8 tables, but we never had to queue during our weekend.

Lastly, the staff were very nice and hospitable.

All in all, I would definitely go back again if I can get the discounted rate again.

Hotel very well situated,
rooms very small , in spite of the plastic cosy decoration
as tv the smallest j have ever seen in a hotel
Breakfast minimum
The shower place very tiny ;
you can't hardy wash with it because of the minimum pressure water....

Myself and my wife just came to London and needed a place to stay.

The Amsterdam Hotel proved just the solution.

We were travelling alot and often came back late, but since the hotel was so close to the train station, it was easy getting back.

We attended breakfast aswell.

Really enjoyed it - Felt like home.

My wife left her handbag when we left, but the friendly staff kept it for us - Thanks again guys!

Shower facilities and towels where replaced consistently.

The room was also well equipped with its own kitchen facilities, tv and lounge area.

Heating system was also awesome, when you walk in you will feel it cold, but as soon as you switch it on the room is warm in no time.

Pleased with my stay and will definitely return.

It's a nice hotel for couples on holiday, business people and also those that need to be near many forms of public transport.

Overall we had a great time

Thanks to the Manager and Staff for their hospitality.

Good location, close to tube station and OK restaurants. However, the first room we were given was in basement, facing the street, and although spacious, the beds (and linen) were too narrow. We had asked for a quiet room and the staff were kind enough to move us after 1 night, to a more pleasant room (1.st floor). The breakfast was mediocre, and the room in which it was served was overcrowded. Cleanliess was OK, but we we know that there are better options in this price range.

5mins walk to Earl's Court Tube with direct train services to Paddington Station on the District Line and to Piccadilly Circus on the Piccadilly Line.

A decently priced base for travel around London. Staying in an apartment style room for 3 located in the basement. Room size is decent with toilet and small kitchenette. (Space for 4 big bags on floor and on sofa)

Several cafes and restaurants around the area for simple breakfast and caffeine in the morning. Yet to try and do not think will try the breakfast in hotel.

Overall, basic and clean hotel.
Downside: no lift service from ground floor to platform at Earl's Court. I probably will have to carry my bags down the stairs for my transfer to Heathrow Express at Paddington Station.
