“Small but comfortable and clean”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 21, 2013

My stay here was for one night only. The staff were friendly and helpful, I got there early and could leave my bags at reception while spending my day in London.

The room was small but clean. Tea & coffee were provided, but only powdered milk therefore the tea was pretty horrible.

Position is quite good - about 15 minutes walk from Victoria (with bags) and 5 minutes to Pimlico Underground.

The breakfast room is very small so you need to time when you go down to breakfast. I wasn't in a hurry so was happy to wait until after 9 for breakfast. Breakfast ok but not fantastic.

Overall the stay was pleasant but I felt a little overpriced for what you got.

Thank you for your review.

We are a budget Hotel and I trust you took this into consideration with your comments?

Most guests feel the breakfast on offer is above average so I am sorry you did not feel the same way.

Many older properties do have small rooms but we do make a huge effort to make them clean, modern and comfortable.

Stayed at Victoria Inn while in London for 4 nights. Rooms were small, but bed was quite comfortable and everything was extremely clean. Bathroom was tiny. Had great breakfast, even had scrambled eggs along with cereal, breads and fruit. Price was right.

Room Tip: no air conditioner Choose room off street as it is noisy

A very pleasant place to stay in a great location when visiting London. Located in the Belgrave district and nestled in the midst of lots of other Victorian-styled hotels and B&Bs, the price was very reasonable compared to everyone else. As you are only 5 minutes easy walking distance from Pimblico tube station and less than 10 minutes walk from Victoria station it is incredibly easy to connect to all the other tube stations and tourist attractions within London. All the staff were extremely friendly and courteous, and our room on the ground floor was very clean and well kept. Yes, as are most European hotel rooms, the room was small by American standards, but as a place to sleep at night it was perfectly fine. It included a view overlooking a quaint courtyard where one could enjoy the much better than average complimentary breakfast if one desired. The staff could also help arrange practically any tours within or outside of London. Quite a few pubs and quality restaurants within a small radius, and the area felt very safe even when coming back late at night after very full days of sightseeing. Only complaint was no complimentary wi-fi service, and the service I paid for was iffy at best within our room - could only get reliable connection from the hotel lobby.

As I was going on a day trip on the Orient Express my son booked this hotel as it was only as short walk to Victoria station. The rooms are basic and very clean with a lift to all floors. I found the staff very pleasant and easy to talk to and the breakfast was excellent. It is in a nice area with plenty of things to do and 2 underground stations nearby. I found it reasonably safe walking in the main areas at night where there were theatres, shops and lots of restaurants.

A pleasant stay at Victoria inn during my London trip was what made my trip more memorable & comfortable. The room was quite spacious for 3 of us. Rooms are quite warming & relaxing after a tiring day.

On the positive side this hotel is well placed as it is close to Victoria bus and rail stations. There are also a coup-le of nice little restaurants nearby. However, the hotel itself does not deserve the apparent three stars from the AA displayed at its front. The rooms are spartan and not especially well equipped. For example the bathrooom of my room did not have an extract fan, no toiletries other than a wall mounted liquid soap dispenser and no plug for the handbasin. The room's drink making facilites are on the stingey side offering just one coffee sachet and one tea bag per person. There was not even a plastic spoon to stir drinks.
Having read tripadvisor comments I had booked a double room for a bit more space, but this turned out to be no bigger than I would expect from a single room except there was another single bed in there. The basic MFI type furniture did not include a second chair in my double room. Breakfast is very basic being toast or croissants with jam and machine coffee or tea. There was canned fruit on offer too but no signs of the yoghurt suggested, and ostensibly accepted, by another reviewer. WiFi has to be paid for. I was especially disappointed by the poor service I received from a receptionist. I was reporting the apparent theft of items out of my bag whilst it was in their storage. (nice big sign on the reception desk saying they are not responsible for left items!). This person promptly stopped looking for the address of the local police station for me when another person randomly came in off the streets to enquire about room availablity. How ignorant is that? Unforgivable bad manners in my opinion. I would not recommend this hotel for all of the above reasons.

Room Tip: Try a different hotel.

Thank you for your review. We find your comments very inaccurate. So starting with the drinks - Tea and Coffee - guests can have as many as they wish for free, they only have to ask for more. Indeed we provide spoons for your use!

For customers and your benefit, the manufacturers of our bespoke furniture are not amused with comparison with a particular company that are no more but known in the past for low quality home products rather than hotel ones. Our furniture suppliers also supply to Hilton Hotels, Holiday Inn etc! So we know what quality means to us and our better customers and those who appreciate and very satisfied with our accommodation and service.

Regarding fan in the bathroom, ALL our bathrooms are ventilated either with a local fan or a central extraction system. I am sorry if you did not see an extract fan. For good hygiene, sink plugs are kept in the vanity unit so that they are kept clean.

Wifi is provided by a third party and yes they have to charge for it. We will certainly pass your comments to them. In case you asked for free Wifi - we are thinking of this but clearly our room rates will go up.

Finally, if matters are raised at the Front Desk, we take pride in dealing with customer requests promptly and with a smile! We are surprised to know about the alleged theft. The storage room is kept locked at all times and we find it hard to believe that this could even happen! Our staff have not reported it but we will make further enquiries about the matter. Thankfully, to our knowledge, such an incident has never happened at our hotel. The above also responds to your comment about our staff. May I very strongly protest for calling them ignorant? For sure they may make a mistake but in your case I cannot believe that they would turn away from talking to you and attend to a another person. Our team is serves our customers well, politeley and with good manners.
