“Amazing service, great location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 14, 2012

Amazing service, all staff very friendly and welcoming. Food and wine in the restaurant are very good and the bar is a very relaxing place. The location is a walkable distance from Euston station of about 10 minutes and the hotel is situated in a peaceful street in Bloomsbury. In fact surprisingly peaceful as it is extremely close to the British museum and easy walking distance to the theatres, covent garden, the National Gallery etc. An oasis of calm in a frenetic city. Our room was quite small as it was the standard type but very well appointed. Overall this is the best hotel we have stayed in, in many trips to London so although it can be pricey, it is definitely worth it. The same family run other London hotels such as 41and The Milestone which we will check out if we need a different location as the ethos seems very good.

“Exceptionally welcoming and comfortable.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 14, 2012

This is an excellent hotel which offers guests an exceptionally warm welcome and provides an impressive degree of comfort. Everyone associated with the hotel appears genuinely proud…justifiably so…of what it has to offer and does everything possible to make you feel welcome and valued. This alone goes a long way to make for an extremely enjoyable stay.
The location is excellent. Even though you are literally just round the corner from The British Museum and only a short walk from all the bustle of Trafalgar Square, the overriding ambience is one of calm and tranquillity. It’s a very traditional hotel in the best sense of the word and just the sort of place it feels good to get back to at the end of a busy day’s sight seeing.
The hotel’s facilities are excellent. It has comfortable sitting areas, a great bar and a heated terrace should you want to take the air without going too far. There is a bistro attached to the hotel; we ate there a couple of times and on both occasions the food and wine were excellent. Our room was not particularly large but very comfortable and luxurious enough for anyone’s tastes.
You would go a long way to find a more welcoming hotel anywhere and it’s certainly one we’ll be staying in again.

Room Tip: All rooms seem luxurious and comfortable but when it comes to size I suspect you get what you pay fo...

“Impressive”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 13, 2012

Montague on the Gardens is across the street from the British Museum so you always have a landmark for directions. The staff at the hotel was outstanding. They were great with directions and very patient. We found London very hard to navigate, but their subway system (underground) was easy to use. The hotel was very clean and nice. I would recommend an upgrade to a deluxe room. The regular rooms are very small but for a small fee, we upgraded to a really big room close to the front of the hotel. It was very convenient. The breakfast was excellent. We will stay here again if we travel back to London. We were very pleased.

Room Tip: Give up the street view for a bigger room. Also, first floor rooms tend to be larger at this hotel.

“Lovely mixture of old and new”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 11, 2012

I stayed here for two nights as my sister was getting married close by. Although I had a single room it was more than big enough and had a bath and shower (the shower was a ceiling shower which was great!). The staff were very friendly and helpful and the hotel was a nice mixture of traditional style with modern technology and comfort. The bed was also larger than a standard single and very comfortable.

Room Tip: If you can, go for a room overlooking the gardens. I had a room overlooking the road and although th...
