This is the second time in two weeks that I stayed at this particular Raddison Blu, and I will not be returning.
The staff on the reception were friendly, and the location was very good, but although the rooms are reasonably well appointed, they are small, and mostly facing directly (and closely) onto other rooms or windows - so the blinds have to be lowered if you want any privacy at all. (I've seen three rooms in recent weeks as I had to change the first because the window was broken). The slamming of the heavy room doors by cleaning staff from the crack of dawn doesn't help you get a restful sleep either.
The restaurant is where it all starts to fall apart. Apart from horrendously inattentive service in the bar/restaurant during each of my stays (sometimes having to wait more than 20 minutes to even order, and it's not a big restaurant), I was extremely disappointed in the food - despite trying different dishes at breakfast each day, all were uniformly bad, and in a few cases were inedible (pancakes that were uncooked in the middle and burnt around the edges, cold greasy potatoes (hint - a hot plate doesn't heat cold food up!!) and eggs so overcooked that they were inedible, etc.) Having breakfast inclusive of the stay simply wasn't worth the extra cost.
The room service menu is woefully inadequate (only two or three options after 11pm in a 4 star central London hotel??!!) - but being served a pitifully small, half empty baguette and a cup of ketchup doesn't warrant a 10 pound charge (7.50 plus 1.50 tray fee PLUS a service fee!) - additionally, when the tea I asked for didn't arrive, I was told to go and make my own tea in the room - charming!!
Finally, the issue of vomit not having being cleaned in the lift, and my slipping and falling on this. OK, this was caused by other guests, but there are cameras everywhere in the foyer of the hotel, and staff all around - how could this be missed?! Sorry folks, but this didn't give me a luxury hotel feeling....
After great experiences at the Hampshire on Leicester Square, and reasonably stays with other Radisson's around Europe, this was a massive disappointment...
Avoid getting a room facing the courtyard if you like your privacy, even though these are quieter th...
