“Great value for money - big bedrooms and relaxing spa”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 11, 2013

We stayed here on Friday 10th May for one night to celebrate my birthday. It is about a 10 minute walk from Clapham Junction and you do have to walk through a big housing estate however it is fine in daylight. Upon arrival the hotel staff were very friendly and when they realised it was my birthday they kindly offered us an upgrade from a river view standard room to a river view suite - we only had to pay £25 extra. The room was amazing, very spacious and great view. We used the spa on the Friday evening and this was very relaxing after a hard week at work! In the evening we got a taxi into Clapham town centre, in hindsight we regret this as it wasn't that nice and we wish that we had either stayed at the hotel or gone to Sloane Square late afternoon on the free shuttle bus from the hotel (this stops at 4pm - its a shame it doesn't operate in the evening) Good selection at breakfast, food alittle cold but thats a small negative. We had to wait about 10 minutes for a table as the restaurant was crowded. Overall we would stay here again but I think I would definitely spend more time at the hotel instead of venturing out because the location is not the best.

Room Tip: Opt for the river view and try to get an upgrade!

Beautiful spa facilities which are very relaxing. The room was very tasteful with a nepresso coffee maker. Bathroom was superb. We had a very tasty three course dinner in the bistro for £20 a head. Bargain.

when getting to the hotel it did seem in an odd location but as soon as you walk through the door all that is forgotten. the place inside looks amazing and all of the staff helped in every way they could. the room its self went above and beyond what i expected. the only thing i found was there is 8 light settings and in the dark i had no idea what i was doing, but thats just me. the location is a bit far out and it took a while on the tube or a £20 taxi ride to Piccadilly which isnt too bad. all round great visit!

Stayed for 2 nights on a rate that included a lovely breakfast (taken overlooking the heliport and river). Opened the door to my room and was immediately impressed with the standard of finish and the sheer spaciousness - in London as well! Massive TV, though the welcome menu swiftly became an irritation; TV in the bathroom too, though it didn't work (hardly a problem, more a shame as it seemed a novelty). Actually, the bathroom was bigger than some London bedrooms, and had a good, powerful walk-in shower.
Criticisms? Some fire alarm problems during my stay, but I doubt it happens often (mind, the staff response could've been swifter and more reassuring - it's a bit disconcerting being stuck on the 3rd floor not knowing if you're totally safe!). But otherwise, none.
It is a little bit out on a limb for visitors to central London attractions, though they do have a shuttle to Sloane Square, or you can walk along the riverside to Battersea in 20-30 mins. Be aware that if arriving late at Clapham Junction, don't just follow Google Maps' walking route through the local housing estate - take the longer route, or maybe just get a taxi!!

Got a great rate with Hotels.com including breakfast. The room was ok overlooking the Heliport and river Thames. The bathroom was superb. Location was not great but a 12 minute bus ride to Victoria station.

My daughter was refused access to the pool even though when I went down there was a 14 year old down there. Having said that, it was more a giant jacuzzi than a pool! Was told to change in my room which was odd given that I later found lockers in the gents changing room. The lady in the spa must have had a tough day as she was not in the best of moods and seemed sick of hotel guests! The service would have been much higher had it not been for her.

At breakfast we had to guess what the cold drinks were as initially there we no labels. The cooked tomatoes and mushrooms were cold. We a small jar of jam on our table that had already been opened and used. The rest of the breakfast was actually very good and the selection excellent.

Room Tip: Do not use the hotel slippers in the sa as they will get soaked.

Questionable to class as five star.
-on plus side: extremely well fitted out (luxurious even), excellent spa facilities
-negatively: location, both setting (tiny forecourt facing onto redbrick warehouse), and geography ( poor public transport, few local amenitities, distance from city): and outlook facing adjacent building (unless river view room)
Depending on room rate obtained reasonable price relationship, however.

Room Tip: clearly try for the river side
