“It's a bed for the night”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 31, 2013

Stayed here as a family of 4 in one of the executive family rooms - don't be deceived by the name. Having said that the price for a two night stay in London was very reasonable and the location wasn't bad. Lots of amenities nearby. In it's heyday this would have been a very grand hotel but sadly time has taken its toll. The room was clean and had everything we needed, all in working order. Beds were comfortable.

The one thing that let this hotel down was the two male reception staff on duty when we arrived they could definitely benefit from some customer skills training, all of the other staff were nice and very helpful.

If you're just looking for somewhere to sleep and get fresh this is your hotel.

I'm just adding to the myriad other terrible reviews here, but here we go.

We initially booked two nights, but then phoned to extend our stay to three nights. When we got there, we were told that we had only booked two nights, even though we had been given confirmation of the three nights over the phone. It was sorted out quickly, and we paid for three nights and got our key. The lady at reception was quite unfriendly - a smile certainly would not have gone amiss.

We went to our room, which was on the ground floor, and there were three beds and one bunk bed in there, which left us with little room for anything (bearing in mind there were only two of us and these millions of beds in the room). We had a narrow pathway at the end of all the many beds which we squeezed up and down during our stay. The beds were very clean and were cleaned every morning which was nice. The TV worked and we had a kettle and some coffee, tea and milk which was replenished every morning along with the bed sheets. The bedroom window slid open and shut and could not be locked, which made me very anxious, even though the window only opened about a foot wide. When I asked for a key at reception, I was told that it was perfectly safe, there was no key and that two security were in the building at night.

The bathroom did the job, although the window did not open (bit stupid that the one we wanted open didn't and the one we wanted shut wouldn't lock), so it got very steamy on the mirror after our showers. The sink seemed as if it would fall off the wall, desperately in need of resealing. The toilet seat was also a bit scratched, but overall, can't complain about the bathroom.

There was quite a lot of noise the first night, although the beds were very comfortable. When we returned the next day for the second night, the door had been left open by the cleaner (we suspect), which meant anybody could have gotten in and out of our room that day since it wasn't locked.

We went down to the bar the second night to get a sandwich and a drink. DO NOT BUY THE HOTEL SANDWICHES. Two pounds for the most disgusting and strange sandwiches I have ever seen in my life. The chicken salad sandwich is just chicken slices were shreds of lettuce. Five half slices of bread are all buttered with mayyonaise on and filling in between each one, so there's physically no way to eat it as two sandwiches like you get with normal sandwiches. Expect lots of licking fingers and grappling with mayyonaise covered bread slices if you want to eat it. Absolutely gross, and I'm sure it gave us tummy aches for the next couple of days.

At the bar were some guys who had been drinking and some other weirdos. Be aware that many weirdos stay in this hotel, so if you want to come across all kinds of creatures from all different walks of life, stay at Queens Hotel. From chavvy Northerners to French families to African tribal men, you'll find the lot here.

The Wifi in the reception area is absolutely awful, so don't expect anything in that department.

When we went back to our rooms from the bar, the room key wouldn't work. We went to reception to tell them, the guy faffed about with it and we tried again. Still wouldn't work, so we returned to reception and he gave us a new one. This time it worked. That night was by far the noisiest, since I think the drunk guys from the bar were in the room next to us jumping on the beds until all hours. In the distance, some woman was laughing like a hyena.

The final night, we went back to our rooms after a long day of touring around the city and discovered that our room key would not work again. We went to reception, only to be told that we were supposed to have checked out that morning, which wasn't true since we had sorted that out on the phone before we arrived, when we arrived at reception and we had paid for the three nights. The guy (a different one) faffed around again with the room key and gave it back. We tried it again, but to no avail. We returned to reception, where the receptionist got security to come and open the door for us. An overall nightmare with the stupid room keys.

Not too much noise the last night, which was a lovely change. The drunk guys must have left or stopped bouncing on the beds. We checked out, where the nicest woman possible was at reception - if she had been there all the time, our stay would have been much more pleasant. I was able to park my car in the car park until 6.30pm that evening, so we could have another day in the city, which was brilliant. Thumbs up to the hotel for this.

In the area, there's a Sainsbury's just down the road which is good (literally 2-3 minute walk) and the 249 bus which will take you to the Crystal Palace train station. Get on at the same side as the hotel for the train station.

The price is brilliant, but I can certainly see why now.

Come to Euro Queens Hotel if you want to feel quite unsafe, witness African tribal men taking selfies out in the car park and hear lots of noise as you try to sleep at night.

The sofas in the reception area were comfy though.

I booked a one night stay with husband and 2 grandchildren aged 11 and 7.

The room certainly was adequate for us all, just a few minor problem TV on BBC one was on and off all the time. Curtains not hung properly and shower was not in the proper position and went all over the bathroom floor I had to help the boys to shower,

Overall it was good for the price Breakfast was OK and we had no noise on the night although it was full

Stayed for 2 nights for family funeral. We booked a triple room which we thought was well priced. I read reviews prior to booking so knew we weren't getting the Ritz but.....
The outside of the hotel looks quite grand but that's where it all ended. Check in was simple but very busy as a coach load arrived at the same time we did. There were 2 receptionists on duty, but the reception desk was too small to deal with such a large number of people. We were given room 604, downstairs in an annex. The room was big enough but stunk of damp & stale cigarettes. There were 2 single beds pushed together and some rusty metal bunk beds. The sheets were clean and that's about all that can be said. The bathroom was very tired, mould in the corner, the floor tiles looked dirty, the toilet roll holder was barely attached to the wall, very poor ventilation and a poor shower. We said we would put up with it as didn't plan on spending much time in the room but by the time we had discovered the bathroom sink was blocked by the previous occupants cigarette butts, it was too late to move. We were rudely awoken the following morning by banging, sawing, drilling and the electric going off as there were work men renovating the room next door. There were also only 2 cups so all 3 of us couldn't enjoy a morning coffee. We complained about the room and were told they would move us. We were given room 75, which was still tired but at least it didn't stink and the water did drain away from the sink. The towels were also clean, which was a relief as one of the towels in room 604 looked like someone had wiped their bottom on it!! I was horrified!!!
Room 75 was smaller, the bunk beds were still rusty and creaked every time I moved in it. We didn't have breakfast and I'm pleased we didn't book to have it as if the rooms are like that, what is the kitchen like?? Also the toilets in the bar were disgusting. They also stunk and there were dirty towels on the floor.
This really is not a nice hotel, the public areas are more than tired, with frayed carpets and marks on the wall. This is definitely a hotel to avoid.

The external view of the hotel is very pleasant and inviting; the reception area is very comfortable and the stall are polite and welcoming. However, the rooms leave much to be desired - poor standard of plumbing and electrical wiring, no waste bin or toilet brush in the bathroom,
