“Great place to stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 22, 2013

I can totally recommend this hotel. It is in a great location a few minutes from Earls Court station, and close to lots of restaurants. The rooms are lovely, finished to a high standard and with excellent amenities (I loved the heated towel rail). I found the staff very friendly and helpful. I would definitely stay here again.

This is a brilliant hotel to stay in. My husband booked a trip to London as a birthday surprise and it was made all the more lovely by the quality of this unpretentious hotel and the staff that work there. From check in to check out the staff were so friendly and extremely helpful! The room itself was lovely, the bed was so comfortable and the bathroom was very modern and impeccably clean. The kitchenette was also a nice touch with a fridge, Nespresso coffee maker, microwave and crockery.
We were given complimentary food vouchers by the hotel for up to 30% off a wide variety of local restaurants with a variety of cuisines and price ranges. We chose to go to the gourmet burger kitchen for dinner and then to Balans for breakfast the following day.
The hotel itself is very well positioned for getting around London as Earl Court tube station is only a few streets walk away. However we found this hotel very quiet and had an extremely restful nights sleep.
We really enjoyed staying here and will definitely be returning to stay again.

Thanks MrsC26 for your lovely review. We are so happy to have contributed to making your London stay excellent. I can see that you have enjoyed everything that we had to offer from the kitchenette, to the in-room Nespresso coffee machine, as well as the local area and the 30% discount on local restaurants. In fact, those are some of the points that make us unique. We look forward to hosting you again soon.

The hotel is very central and very well situated, in a quiet street, close to all the shops and good restaurants. Beds very confortable. Our room was large, very clean and quiet. The little kitchen with fridge & microwave oven is really practical. Really, we loved every thing, and so did the kids ! For the quality of this hotel, the prices are very reasonable. We will come back, for sure.

After an overnight flight from the US this was a welcome reception to London! Great location, easy access to Earl's Court underground, extremely quiet, ultra modern, extraordinarily clean and very modern rooms. The Kitchenette was very welcome with local stores and pubs nearby. The front reception staff was just extraordinary. They are young, upbeat and unbelievably helpful. They offered different ideas every morning for local sights not to be missed. This is a very sophisticated facility. It is not cluttered with restaurants, spas, bars etc which drive up the costs of other larger hotels. But make no mistake, this small hotel is equal to any with its elegance and charm. What separates it from others I believe is the staff. Young and energetic with an emphasis on helping guests from the time you check in. We will certainly be back soon!

What a great place to stay, especially if you're traveling with children. After traveling around Europe for two weeks in various cramped quarters with questionable cleanliness, let me just say that when we walked into this simple yet sophisticated establishment, it was like a breath of fresh air.

I can't emphasize enough how everything is very well-thought-out at this hotel. We had a family suite that was appointed with a king size bed and two twin beds (converted from chairs). The room was spacious enough to accommodate all of these beds, so it was not cramped at all. The bathroom was spotless and modern. The kitchenette was a lifesaver for our family. We have two small boys (ages 2 and 4) and having a sink, refrigerator, microwave, and nespresso machine was nothing short of awesome. We trekked down the block to the Simply Marks & Spencer grocery store and stocked the fridge with fruits, milk, juice, etc.

That's the other great thing about this hotel - the location. It is literally one short block from the Earl's Court underground, which has the Piccadilly and District lines. You can get to Heathrow right from the Piccadilly line with no transfers, which is what we did, and it only cost 11 pounds. One the same road as the underground, there are numerous pubs, cafes, shops, and even a 24-hour convenience store. Many of the restaurants offer discounts to customers staying at base2stay.

The hotel staff was friendly and helpful. The information book in the room is packed with tons of useful information, including the locations of shops, hospitals, pharmacies, dry cleaners, churches, etc. You name it, they thought of it. The location was under renovation (in May 2013), but even the construction crew was friendly!

I cannot recommend this hotel highly enough. On our next trip to London, this will definitely be our place to stay. Book a few months in advance to get the best deals!

We thanks so much Deb V, what else can I say after such a flattering, long and detailed review?
I hope you had a safe trip back to Annapolis. It is so rewarding to see that all our effort to accomplish our mission of being an ethical, sustainable, boutique and affordable hotel that really enjoys looking after its guests was successful!  Going forward we will keep on striving in this direction to ensure more and more guest enjoy the same level of satisfaction. We hope to see you soon and to giving you another memorable stay for you and your family.

We usually stay at different hotels every time we are in London, usually for business more than anything else. Very impressed with base2stay Kensington. Friendly staff, clean well appointed rooms and ideally situated. We were able to park the car overnight on the street as this was free from 6:30 pm to 8:30 am the next day. We will definitely stay here again when we are next in London.

We go to London often from Birmingham and generally stay around the Gloucester Road/Kensington area (I can use my brother's parking space!) - normally one of the chains (Marriott, Hilton, Holiday Inn, etc) but they are getting expensive (even with discounts) so base2stay came up on the radar - £75 for a last minute booking (Booking.com) in a king size room. Even by our (my wife's specifically) exalted standards this place was exceptional; immaculate, quiet and close to Earls Court tube. Bedroom has microwave, fridge, nespresso coffee machine - everything you need. This is my hotel of choice in London from now on - especially if we can get these ridiculously low rates.
