“Awfie wee but perfectly formed”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 30, 2012

I had single room and was prepared for it to be small. It was but it had everything I needed and I have stayed in smaller double rooms in Paris where you had to climb over the bed to get to shower. This was a great room; good location for what I wanted, very clean, powerful shower. If I need to stay in that area of London again I'd stay again.

We stayed three nights in this hotel. The room was small but the furnishings were arranged to maximize the free space so we didn't feel too scrunched considering the room's actual size. The rooms come with a mini-kitchenette including a microwave, refrigerator, tea kettle, sink, etc. There is a set of dishes for 2 and they wash the dishes up for you in the mornings when they clean the room. This allowed us to purchase delicious fresh foods from local stores that we would eat for breakfast each day before going out. The bathroom was a normal size.

The room was very clean. A few tinybread crumbs fell on the floor when eating breakfast and they were not vacuumed the first day which surprised us. However, by the second day, they were cleaned up. We really had no way to clean them up ourselves short of picking them up one-by-one. The linens were in excellent condition. The staff was very helpful - offering maps on our arrival, coupons for discounts at local restaurants, making suggestions. No question seemed too unimportant to them. The tube station, Earl's Court, is about a 3 minute walk. We would highlly recommend this hotel and gladly stay again.

I stayed overnight only. This is not a hotel for a long stay owing to the size of the rooms. It is the smallest hotel room I have ever stayed in. The hotel is located within walking distance of Earl's Court tube station and a multiplicity of restaurants, fast food outlets, grocery stores, money changers and laundrettes.

The staff were very informative and courteous; check-in was a breeze.

The hotel is modern, the room is well appointed (but small). I had a desk, kitchenette (sink and fridge; tea and coffee making facilities) a king single bed, cupboard and a bathroom with shower only (good water pressure and hot water).

Dear Episode10,

Thank you for your review, it's great to read that you enjoyed your stay with us and found the hotel's location, facilities, style and customer service all to your liking.

I would just like to take this opportunity to remind readers that not all of our rooms are as small as our Bijou singles. Because we have converted a traditional townhouse no two rooms at our hotel are exactly the same and we have many different room types. These include Deluxe rooms that can comfortably sleep four people, superior rooms that can sleep up to three and even some rooms with small outdoor terraces.

We look forward to having you stay with us again either here in Kensington or at our sister hotel in Liverpool. Thank you again for the feedback.

Kind regards

Very nice made hotel located in a wonderful London location. This hotel was perfect for our short stay with close proximity to the tube. Staff were very friendly and accommodating. I will definitely recommend this hotel to others who might be traveling to London.

Very professional, helpful and friendly staff. Although it was just an overnight stay in London, I really enjoyed staying here.
The hotel has been refurbished very nicely and it is clean and welcoming.
The staff were extremely friendly and professional and assisted me with arranging taxis, storing my luggage and with the warmest smiles all the time.
I definitely recommend this hotel.

Here comes a late review... Stayed here during the Olympics, and despite having the smallest hotel room ever, I enjoyed it more than most other hotels I have visited. Let's be clear, I had booked a single, as the hotel prices in London were crazy during that time, and only needed a bed for myself. The hotel offers large rooms too, as I was shown by the helpful members of staff.

The location is great, in a wonderful neighborhood, close to two underground stations (earls court and Gloucester road), and within nice jogging distance of Hyde park.

The staff were all great, and offered a warm and genuine greeting each evening which is always welcome.

Best thing about this hotel for me? The small kitchenette hidden away in every room. Loved having my won facilities so I could stock up on food and gives so much more flexibility! The shower room was also very nice. Large size (compared to bedroom) and nicely appointed. All very clean.

Thiis is now my choice for London.

Check it out!

Room Tip: My room was overlooking mews. Was woken early by rubbish/garbage man a couple of times!

Base2Stay was a fantastic deal. This was a spotless hotel with good service in a nice neighborhood. The rooms were actually a little larger than expected, and they were completely modern and updated. We arrived very early in the morning, and although our room wasn't ready, they checked us in and held our bags. When we returned later in the afternoon from seeing the sites, our bags were already in our room for us. The only issue, and it was very minor, was that the doors to the rooms shut a bit noisily. There were so few people going in and out, it wasn't an issue, but just a warning if you are very sensitive to noise.
If you aren't sure of the location (we weren't, as it was our first time to London) the hotel is technically in South Kensington, but a very a short walk (5 min or less) from the Earl's Court tube station, so it was very convenient for us. The neighborhood was quiet and safe.
We would highly recommend this hotel to friends and family and would certainly stay again.

Dear Andrea_in_Sacramento

Thank you for your kind review and the lovely comments you made regarding the service you received, the hotel’s location and the style and feel of the room. We were delighted to read these. In response to the one minor issue that you raised, I wanted to let you know that we have taken your comments on board (along with those of a few of our other guests) and are in the process of adding soft door closers to all of the rooms at the hotel.

I hope that this will have the desired effect and we look forward to welcoming you back at our hotel in the future and to hearing your thoughts on the improvements that we have made.

Kind regards
