This hotel is well plugged-in to the entire TripAdvisor idea - you are encouraged to submit your review after you check out. This likely leads to a very high score for the hotel, inflating the ratings.

Nevertheless, we had a very enjoyable stay for a week in July. The room was very spacious for thee people, with high ceilings and windows that opened, and very quiet, despite its location right over the front entrance. The mini kitchen was great for breakfast, excellent grocery stores with partially prepared food in the vicinity made this an economical way of picking up the odd meal.

The room was well fitted out, with room for storage of suitcases, and could be kept tidy. The beds were comfortable. They offer you discount coupons at local restaurants at the front desk. There is even a vending machine that sells milk. They really have thought of everything.

My only quibbles - only combined shampoo/body wash was available, which wrecked havoc on my hair after 7 washes. And the internet is quite slow, which I understand is related to the availability in that part of London.

Stayed for 7 nights at the Base2Stay in mid August. Conveniently located in a short walking distance from the Earl's Court tube station. Arrived in the early morning, the staff was friendly and accommodating to have my luggage kept until check in. When checked in in the late afternoon, my luggage was already moved to my room. The single room (302) I stayed was clean and cozy with a window facing an internal yard. Room is definitely small, but this is pretty much what you will get in expensive tourist cities. There is small writing desk and a kitchenette with a fridge and a microwave oven. Quiet room except for some noise from a repair work across the yard on weekday mornings. The only complaint is that the in-room safe is awkward to operate, and I finally gave up using it. I will stay here again when visiting London next time.

If you're happy to stay out of the centre of town this is a great pick. The area is quiet but very close to Earls Court and Gloucester Road tube stations and a vast array of pubs, restaurants, cafes and other services.
The tiny kitchen nook is handy but it would be useful to have a toaster as well as the microwave and kettle.
Our room was quiet, very tastefully furnished and the bed was extremely comfortable.
The staff were friendly, professional and very helpful.
As another reviewer said, the internet is still a bit sluggish but I'm not complaining as in Australia you rarely get free wi-fi!

This was my second stay at base2stay, the previous being a year ago. I was there during the Olympics, so it was a busy time. Although I enjoyed it the first time, this time was a lot more enjoyable. The staff are well trained, extremely helpful and always willing to assist. The rooms are clean, well kept and still new. Location is perfect, a block away from the underground. No restaurant, but we knew that! I will definitely be back!

Got the chance to stay at the amazing base2stay hotel in July 2012 during my trip to London. Definitely enhanced my already awesome trip to London...a great choice for all travelers!

Price/booking – Was definitely a bit on the pricey side, but that’s to be expected during the peak travel season especially with the Olympics right around the corner (stayed in early July 2012). Since I booked about 6 months in advance directly from the hotel website, I got a relatively reasonable rate for my single room (paid about 650 pounds for 6 nights). It’s a good idea to book on the hotel’s site, as you can go in and change/cancel your reservation whenever you’d like. In addition, they did not charge my credit card in advance when I booked although my room was booked (unlike if you were to book on Hotels.com/Expedia, etc)

Location – I personally thought the location was GREAT!! The hotel itself is located in a quasi-residential neighbourhood (with homes and other small hotels), so it was very quiet in the immediate area. However, walking just 5 minutes over to Earl’s Court, you got a (small) taste of the hustle & bustle of a relatively part of London with a TON of restaurants, Laundromats, and other small stores (and of course Earl’s Court underground!). Walking the opposite way for about 5 minutes found you at a great Sainsbury grocery store which was great for loading up on food (especially helpful since you have the mini-kitchen at your disposal). The hotel itself is not VERY central, but just a short tube ride away from all of the major “touristy” areas and great connections to other parts of greater London, train stations, Heathrow, etc.

Room – The single room I booked was surprisingly spacious – didn’t feel cramped or small at all. The kitchenette was very useful and had all major utensils along with a small fridge and microwave. Obviously you won’t be whipping up any Martha Stewart-style dishes, but it gets the job done. Absolutely no complaints about the cleanliness of the room; hotel staff have done an excellent job keeping their hotel in tip-top shape and it really shows. There aren’t a lot of “frills” in your room (or the hotel in general), but for a busy tourist/business traveller, you really won’t miss anything. Major compliments to the exceptionally comfortable bed as well...A+++ for sure! Bathroom was clean and spacious, with the usual shampoo/other amenities which were always well stocked. Also liked the strong A/C in the room, which worked very well and was quite silent (always nice)

The only complaint I DO have is about the slow internet...it was just unusable most of the time. Hopefully they will upgrade/fix this problem ASAP.

Overall pros:
+Great value & amazing location
+Exceptionally clean and comfortable rooms
+Mini-kitchen was a definite hit!

Cons:
-Sluggish internet needs to be fixed ASAP (hopefully!)

Overall, this was an outstanding hotel at a relatively reasonable price...highly, highly recommended to anyone considering to visit London.

If, like me, you've stayed in the "cheaper", central London hotels, you'll know what a rip-off most of them are - noisy rooms the size of postage stamps, steep, narrow staircases, no-one that will even offer to help with your bags and "breakfasts" that are little short of a culinary insult.

Book in at base2stay and leave all that behind.

The hotel was light and airy, the staff courteous, friendly and efficient.
There's a lift to every floor.
Even the single room was a very comfortable size; quiet, clean and well maintained.
IMHO, the bed was only "OK" but you can call upon a veritable smorgasbord of pillows to make things more comfortable.
The kitchen unit - sink, fridge, microwave and accompanying paraphernalia - tucked away unobtrusively when not in use or, if you wanted to eat out instead, the hotel has connections with many of the local restaurants.
The shower was refreshingly large (no pun intended). I didn't bump my elbows once all week and it kept a good head of water all through the day.

OK, so you don't get breakfast provided for you.
So what??
If you want/need to rise and dine at 5am, that's entirely up to you and you can have whatever you like.

The hotel is a leisurely three minute walk from Earl's Court tube station, so it's perfectly placed for getting "into town" and, once you have your room's key-card, you can come and go as you please, 24 hours a day.
(Tourist Trivia: Keep an eye out for the "Watchbox" just outside the station - if you've seen much British television since 1963, you'll spot it!)

Tiny gripe: The wardrobe did seem a mite on the short side; I'm no giant but on the now-standard, "unstealable" hotel coathangers, even my shirts were dragging on the shelf. I'd suggest bringing your own.

Overall, I'd say that this hotel's an absolute gem; I will definitely be booking in here again.
