“This is the best hotel I've stayed in London, regardless of price”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 13, 2011

I have stayed at high end hotels and mid range hotels, and base2stay is the best. It is modern and clean and new (part of the attraction in London is its history but staying in an old hotel is not an attraction); it is in a great area close to two tube stations, lots of food and sights; totally affordable.

We stayed in a bunk bed room which made our rate even more affordable. There is a kitchenette so you save on meals and have the convenience, with many great, prepared meals at stores nearby. Luggage can easily be stored under the bed. Service is great -- a call for additional shampoo resulted in a bottle within a minute.

Room Tip: Avoid fire door as they slam shut

From the moment I entered base2stay Kensington, I felt relaxed and comfortable. The staff were incredibly friendly and immediately helped me to transform from frazzled traveler to chilled visitor.

My room was perfect and the ideal mix of luxury and functionality. Bright and spacious with a very nice bathroom. Everything was super clean too and as a clean-freak, that's high on my list!

The room was very well thought-through and seamless. The free wi-fi was problem free, the TV had everything I wanted, the mini-kitchen was ideal and restaurant delivery menus in the rooms were a nice touch.

I was in London for business and have never enjoyed working at 9pm as much as at base2stay! Settled with a cup of tea, I felt like moving in!

I stayed in base2stay Liverpool last year and was also very impressed. I couldn't recommend the hotels higher.

The staff were welcoming and helpful. The room, although small, met all our needs. It was a bonus having kitchen facilities. We could want for nothing more. It was very clean and well set out. Our room was quiet and restful. Great having access to free internet. Very handy to Earl's Court Station (could catch train from the airport). Walking distance to good shops and restaurants. Would highly recommend and would definitely stay here again.

We loved base2stay! Staff were outstanding, addressing concerns efficiently and in a friendly manner. (I had a problem with the phone and the safe, and they were addressed and remedied incredibly promptly.) It was clear to me that the hotel strives for excellence. We were accomodated for an early check-in as a room became available. We loved the microwave, fridge, kettle, and dishes with cutlery--exactly what we needed! An in-room sare was large. While not large, the room was efficient and comfortable. The location was excellent--very close to a grocery store and tube station.
Any cons? The black-out drapes allowed a bit of light through--not a problem for us. I am a bit sensitive to noise, and heard a bit from the parking lot near our window (L7), but again this was not an issue for us. These were so minor, however, that the hotel still provides outstanding value for money.

Loved Base2Stay! I booked this as we were looking for a place for one night for 3 people in a central location next to a tube (not as east as you might think). Base2Stay has it all.

Firstly the room was brilliant. There were no attempts to squeeze a third bed in. The romo was a great size and there were conveniently 3 of everything. I have to comment at the amazing cleanliness of this place as well. Spotless. Beds were all comfy (even the fold out) and we were glad to have single duvets in the queen bed. The 'kitchen in the cupboard' was ideal. Perfect size and allowed you to prepare breakfast/snacks without the need of going out.

The location is fantastic. Its only 5 minutes walk to Earls Court tube where you can connect to just about any line. Earls Court Roads itself has a good number of restaurants and shops if you don't want to walk too far for dinner.

The staff were very pleasant and knowledgable. There were plenty of them on reception to attend to guests. Overall, I just wish I could have stayed longer!

Unlike a lot of hotel rooms you can open the window. We found the smallest room too cramped so we paid extra for a bigger room and they moved our luggage while we were sightseeing; the sleeper chair is too firm for a comfortable night of sleep; great central location just minutes away from the tube and a Marks and Spencer food store; TV turns into a computer; location in a residential area makes you feel like a local; easy access to Heathrow on the tube

Room Tip: Avoid ground level room facing the back alley

Stayed here for one night for concert in London. Excellent hotel, clean, smart, super smiley staff, super comfy bed and pillows although room a bit small.. short walk to Earls court road tube and lots of shops. Great discount at local restaurants where we saved over £12 on dinner.. you must ask at reception for these vouchers.. WILL BE COMING BACK TO STAY NEXT TIME IM IN LONDON :O)

Room Tip: ask for discount vouchers for local restaurants
