“Very noisy”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed November 19, 2013

We used our hotel rewards points to book this hotel for two nights while visiting the city. Pros: Very clean, friendly service, decent location less than a block away from the tube station. Cons: I am a relatively light sleeper. Our room was on the 3rd floor and I could literally hear people talking from the street, as it's an old building with thin windows and walls. London is a busy city and it seemed like every 10-15 mins you could hear a siren from an emergency vehicle go by or honking horns from nearby traffic all night long. Needless to say, I couldn't sleep for the two nights we were there and it made for some rough sightseeing in London.

Many aspects of the hotel were ideal - reasonably priced for London - top breakfast - located in a very good position for transport links and wandering about (King's Cross / Fitzrovia / Bloomsbury....all within striking distance.

Our major beef was with the ac / heating system - it made a sound rather similar to a train going through a tunnel just above your head - makes a good night's sleep a challenge.

The room was adequate, but was woken at 7am by workmen above our bedroom who drilled and used other extremely loud power tools!!! Eventually got up as noise persisted and went down stairs for a very poor continental breakfast.

We stayed for one night as part of a theatre break and then caught the Eurostar to Belgium the next day. The location was excellent, being in a quiet street, only a 5 minute walk from Kings Cross. The rooms are small but functional and have been recently refurbished. The bathrooms are very small but new and very clean. Single rooms are particularly small. Room 202, a single, has a particularly small bathroom, unsuitable for an overweight person.

There is air conditioning, digital TV, tea and coffee and wi-fi. Wi-fi is only free if you booked direct with the hotel. Some of the floorboards are a bit creaky. Rooms at the back of the hotel are particularly quiet. Rooms in the basement might have some noise from the breakfast room. The beds are comfortable, the pillows are a little hard.

Breakfast is provided in a basement breakfast room. Essentially continental although you can have hard boiled egg and toast too. Staff are extremely polite and helpful.

I would put this hotel on a par with a Premier Inn, better than a Travelodge.

Room Tip: Choose a room at the back for peace and quiet.

The advantage was the location, while it's walking distance from King's Cross and St.Pancras,it's tucked away in a quiet bylane so you avoid the noise.Rooms are very small and the bathrooms especially the shower area were tiny but very clean.Be prepared for narrow, steep stairs and corridors if you travel with large suitcases.Breakfast Buffet was very limited and strictly functional. The staff were very helpful and polite. And if you had booked through one of the travel sites like we did,be warned that wifi is not free and they charge a hefty fee for it.While our bed was comfortable, the extra beds our kids had were sagging and lumpy.Requested for a change but none were available.Overall value for money if you want to stay in Central London

Comfort Inn King Cross is located close to St Pancras ' Station. It is easy to access when you arrive in London by Eurostar.
The hotel is in a calm street in comparison with the other streets. The rooms are well-equiped and clean but quite small. The staff is efficient. The breakfast buffet is very simple (you will not have there the typical british breakfast).
A good address not so expensive in the center of London which is already a good news !

A bijou hotel - small reception area, small lift, small room, small breakfast room - but we found that "Small is beautiful".
Very polite, friendly and helpful man on Reception desk made check-in a pleasure.
Our room was only 10 foot square (I measured it !) but tastefully decorated and cleverly furnished to provide all facilities within a small space. There is Air Con (which we did not use) but the room might get hot in mid-summer.
The bed was very comfortable, and the room quiet (for London). Bathroom light & airy with opening window too.
We used this as an overnight stay to catch an early Eurostar to Paris. It is perfectly situated for this, plus also has easy bus links to the West End/theatres etc.
Breakfast not served till 7am - what about early Eurostar customers? We managed to grab a small bite before this time, maybe later there would have been a greater variety of food. This is our only negative comment. we will be staying here again for an early Eurostar.

Room Tip: we had a 3rd floor front room which was quite quiet (for London). Rooms at the back of the hotel wi...
