“More a hostel than a hotel.”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed March 1, 2014

taken from the website: "At the Mowbray Court Hotel there are 75 spacious and comfortable guestrooms to choose from [...] All guestrooms have been designed and decorated with the comfort and convenience of the valued guest kept in mind.

Firstly, we were shown to a room in The Annex, a separate building to the hotel but run as if it were part of the hotel. There was no elevator between floors as advertised, and no en-suite facilities, again, as advertised. It was a shared bathroom. Our room WAS NOT spacious. On opening the door, it hit the bed. Decorated with comfort? Yes, if you found the stackable seats used for school assemblies comfortable.

"All guestrooms are fully equipped with modern facilities [...] with an en-suite, a hairdryer, a trouser press, a radio, direct dial telephone, laundry service and tea/coffee making facilities."

En-suite? No. Hairdryer? Easier to blow on my own hair. Trouser Press? No. Radio? Possibly part of the TV channels available but I didn't check. Tea/coffe making facilities? Hell No! Our room came fully equipped with a sink and TV. The shared bathroom, (I repeat again, not en-suite) had cracked tiles, and flaking paintwork around the sink. It also had a mop in the corner. There seems to be no attention to detail at all.

The location was excellent. I can't fault that. To be honest, I didn't particularly mind it's ilimited services, but this hotel has to advertise in a way that will meet a customer's expectations. What I was expecting, and what I ended up with were vastly different. The annex should definitely be advertised as a hostel, and it certainly needs to be mentioned at some point. Perhaps the price we paid is the reason we were put in the annex, but again, this needs to be made clear. There was also no one readily available in the annex for help. (No reception)

The customer's expectations were not met, and for this reason I scored it low.

As advertised. For price and quality hard to beat. Right next to "The Tube" subway system and near bus lines for easy access to downtown London and Heathrow. Rooms nothing special but comfortable, clean, and have private bathrooms. Best asset is full complimentary breakfast and Anthony at the front desk, very helpful.

This hotel was great, lovely staff at front desk that offered great advice on what to do in london. The hotel was also only a couple hundred meters walk from earls court tube station which made it very easy to get around london and to go and see all the landmarks on offer.

Me and my friend were looking to stay up in London for the New Years Eve celebrations. After searching for through many different hotel comparison sites, we decided to pick the Mowbury Court hotel based on previous reviews, location and cost.

We arrived in London at Waterloo Station & caught the tube to Earls Court station. When exiting the main entrance to Earls Court Station the hotel is literally a 2 minute walk away, which was perfect. Check in was no hassle & the staff were more then helpful.

After dropping off our bags in our room, we decided to have a look around the area, where a corner shop & a simply food M&S are only a minute or so away & also a boots, fast food restaurants & couple of pubs.

When we arrived back to our hotel we had issues with the TV in our room, which only took a matter of minutes to fix & worked completely fine after that. The shower & bathroom facilities were basic, however couldn't complain on the cleanliness of the entire room.

After arriving back at the hotel from the New Years Eve celebrations, it was lovely to get into a comfy bed, which i slept very well in. The only complaint i would have is that walls are quite thin, but that would be my only complaint of our stay.

Overall, I would definitely recommend the Mowbury Hotel if you require a 1 to 2 night stay in central London.

Warm, safe, clean and quiet.
Steaming hot water in showers.
Friendly helpful staff.
Perfectly located for tube, world class museums, High St Kensington and Westfield for shopping.
What more could you want in central London?
Unbelievable value.
