“Man Ray Exhibit”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 12, 2013

This is a must see from the great 20th century art & photography icon Man Ray. Man Ray Portraits, which runs through May 27th, is the first major museum retrospective of this innovative and influential artist’s photographic portraits, from 1916-1976.

“At last”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 11, 2013

On a rainy Saturday afternoon it was packed. Lots of kids with single parents and young couples talking earnestly trying to impress one another.
It was much smaller than I expected and with fewer paintings. Lots of people round the Duchess of Cambridge and Richard the Third.
The best bit is the 2nd level and particularly the Tudor and Stuart rooms. Wonderful to see paintings that you have seen only in books. We only had 2 hours, so didn't get to see the exhibitions but the Man Ray seemed popular and people were queuing to buy tickets. Will have to return another time but will go on a weekday morning as I can't stand crowded art galleries.

“Art and history lesson in one!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 11, 2013

I love it here. It's a history lesson from the Tudors to modern day and I love it. It's free to see the main exhibits too so if you're like me and only have a limited attention span then you can pop in any time for another look :o)

“Amazing place, I love it”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 9, 2013

One of my favourite places in London and as the main collection is free a great place to pop in.

The ground floor exhibitions are always a favourite and the portrait awards and photographic awards are truly unmissable. If you are in London this should be a must see and do.

“history and art all in one”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 8, 2013

the portrait gallery was very interesting for us.. as Canadians we know some of the most famous monarch but not all the relationships and the stories behind them. The tudor room was most interesting to us... it was very interesting and helped us to understand more about the castles and sites we visited later. i would recommend the portrait gallery as a must for anyone trying to learn more British history while on their vacation and tour
