“Nice hotel, but with some disappointments”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 18, 2012

Stayed here for a weekend break. The reception and bar areas are really nice with lots of quirky art scattered about to keep it looking unique and interesting. After reading here how small the standard rooms were we booked a king size room, but were let down by the size of the room. It wasn't tiny, but it wasn't roomy either. Plus there was only one small window in the corner that was frosted over so you couldn't see out, and couldn't open it very much either. I know this was to hide the view of the back of the hotel, but it would have been nice to have the option of opening it for a bit of fresh air. The room cards failed one of the nights as well, and this also happened to our friend's who were staying in the hotel as well. housekeeping were loud in the corridors as well, and i can't understand why housekeeping in hotels worldwide aren't made to use doorstops to hold open the doors of rooms they are cleaning, as it would reduce the amount of door slamming by a huge amount. some of us go away for party weekends and are not up at the crack of dawn sightseeing, some of us are hungover and would like a lie-in!! Well recommended, but with just a few let downs.....

Dear Reviewer

Thank you for staying at The Radisson Blu Edwardian Bloomsbury Hotel on your recent trip to London and for taking the time to share your review with us.

Size of rooms can be challenging depending on the room type booked, although the Bloomsbury offers between 8 to 10 sq sq meters on Standard Category and 10 to 12sq meters in our superior category. May I suggest that on your next visit your experience our Deluxe King Rooms which are generously spacious and worthy of the title. Besides more room to relax in peace and privacy, our deluxe rooms also include: Luxury bathrobe, Complimentary bottled mineral water, Complimentary movie every night of your stay, Complimentary WIFI and A complimentary drink at the bar subject to rates booked and conditions.

I would like to thank you for this very helpful feedback and I sincerely hope we have an opportunity of welcoming you back.

Sincerely,

Hasnain N. Alloo

It's a decent hotel for the rate offered compared to others in the area. It's not a high end hotel, but in an excellent location!

One thing I found disappointing was the meeting room (folio). Even with the windows, it was very dim.

Dear Guest,

Thank you for choosing the Radisson Blu Edwardian Bloomsbury Street Hotel, and for sharing your experience on this site.

I must say that I am rather surprised with your review, the Folio room is infact "bathed" in natural light! and offers a built-in programme of 10 different lighting options to allow the highest impact based on client requirements, these controls are of course managed by individual meeting organisers.

I am sorry we were unable to meet your expectation and can only hope we will have an opportunity to welcome you back sometime soon.

Sincerely,

We had a long weekend at this hotel this month and we did a pre paid booking to upgrade to one of the larger rooms.

The room was great, clean, modern, well equipped. Reception staff were good - the concierge was particularly good - not sure of his name, but he was either Australian or from New Zealand - he was very helpful.

I liked the hotel, and would certainly stay again, there is just nothing to really write home about, as it delivered everything that I expected - nothing more..

The one issue was that the breakfast each day was cold. There is a buffet style breakfast, and not sure if it was the lamps that were not hot enough to keep the food warm or what - we are not talking luke warm food - it was actually cold. We did hear alot of people complaining about this.

Dear Guest,

Thank you for choosing to stay at the Radisson Blu Edwardian Bloomsbury Street Hotel, and for sharing your experience on this site.

Being in hospitality, guest experience is at the heart of everything we do and I was taken aback to read your experience during breakfast which I have personally shared with both our Food & Beverage Operations Manager and The Executive Chef.

Thank you on your compliments on our Location, we are indeed in the heart of the West End and within walking distance of theatres, Covent Garden Opera House, and the restaurants of Soho. The shops of Oxford Street are close by, and just 50 metres down the road the delights of the British Museum can be explored too.

Garry our Head Concierge is a Gem and a fantastic team member, both him and I look forward to welcoming you back to The Bloomsbury Street Hotel in the not too distance future.

This is a lovely hotel, with some very quirky design features and scented air conditioning!

The rooms are possibly a little small, but this is to be expected in central London. They are very well maintained and you can't fault the standard.

Breakfast is very good, as is the food overall.

We stayed here recently for 5 nights, and found this hotel a really very good option for central London.
Position is great - near Tottenham Court Rd and Holborn tube stations, bus routes along New Oxford St, British Museum, lots of restaurants etc.
Staff are without exception friendly, enthusiastic, helpful and all have good communication skills.
Our room (3024) faced onto Bloomsbury St, and though there was minimal road noise it was note a problem (and I am a light sleeper). But if this is a concern, maybe ask for an odd-number room away from the street. The room was spacious, bed comfortable, had a dressing area, iron and board provided. Bathroom was modern, slightly compact, with a rain shower over the bath. Plenty of instant hot water. Housekeeping was very good indeed - room always made up on time, clean and tidy.
Free wifi, which to us is essential.
We booked online and received 15 pounds bar credit per night as well.
Recommended.

This is the second time we have stayed at this hotel and will be sure to stay there again. The location is perfect, the rooms are excellent and the staff are great! Particular thanks to Hamish in the bar/restaurant who looked after us extremely well. This hotel will always be our first choice when staying in London.

Spent two nights at this hotel, while on holiday from Australia. Booked over the internet. I must say, the photos and information on their website were very accurate - this is truly a beautiful hotel! The food and drinks very expensive, but there is a choice of a number of great eateries nearby to have breakfast or dinner (for a fraction of the price!).
I stayed in a Deluxe King Room. Huge King size bed, and large flat screen T.V.. The room had a very cosy, warm feel to it. It was also very clean, spacious and quite luxurious (including the bathroom!) and very quiet (request a room not facing the road).
The location of this hotel was excellent - close to everything! A hop, skip and jump to the British Museum, cafe's & restaurants, Underground Station (Tottenham Crt) just around the block, as are theatres. Can walk to Covent Garden Markets easily, and plenty of souvenir shopping (just across the road).
The staff were all friendly and helpful. Highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting London.

Room Tip: Expensive drinks and meals, but lots of other great places to go to within walking distance from ho...
