The Crescent Hotel is a lovely Georgian era building nestled into a row of several similar hotels in a mostly residential neighborhood near King's Cross/St. Pancras, UCL, The British Museum, and Russel Square. There is a fairly lively commercial area just one block away with plenty of mid-range restaurants, a few pubs, and general sense of youth and activity. The street is occasionally loud late at night when pubs let out (to be fair, we were there during The World Cup).
The room we had was clean and certainly perfectly fine for sleeping a family of four. It was VERY small, but we expected that and really only needed a room for sleeping. These aren't luxury accommodations, to be sure, but they are clean and pleasant-- with a good sense of architecture and history-- including oddly-shaped doors to accommodate the settling of the building and so on.
The wireless signal was weak and erratic.
Breakfast was plentiful and tasty, but certainly not fancy by any stretch. It was served by efficient, friendly staff. It includes bacon or sausage and eggs, but fewer baked options. The breakfast room is a little small for the number of guests and one morning we had to wait just a couple minutes for a table to open up.
The staff overall was competent, helpful, and generally friendly, if a little stiff at times.
Overall, this was a perfectly pleasant place to stay. It's strong points are definitely location and price!
