“Exceeded our Expectations !”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 days ago NEW

We stayed here for two nights for my husbands 50 th and stayed in a deluxe room.
From the time we arrived we felt special the staff were very welcoming .
Our room was amazing ,the coffee maker was a real treat and the mini fridge very useful.it was beautifully decorated and the bed was better than my own! So comfortable and the pillows were so comfy.
I loved the little touch of the solders in the glass case on the wall, the chairs to sit on a relax after a hard day sightseeing !
We were very impressed at the turn down service after coming back late one night our bin had been emptied our cups washed and tea and coffee replenished from the afternoon when we had gone back to our room after it had been cleaned .
Darren the concierge was very helpful and friendly and nothing was to much trouble he recommended a really good indian nearby to the hotel called Chor Bizarre which was excellent ! A little more expensive but you are in Mayfair!
Fabiano the Doorman was also very helpful and very welcoming and always had a huge smile!
The location was perfect ! So near to everything ! We walked across the park to Buckingham Palace so close!
We have stayed in different Hotels in London but never one as special as the Anthenaeum! It reallly is worth the extra to stay here.
We can't wait to return !

Room Tip: Quiet room on Down street

We had a great stay at the Athenaeum as we wanted a little luxury on the early May bank holiday. We are from London, so wanted something fancy where we could relax and go out for a nice meal. We booked a standard room - which looked great in all the pictures - and when we checked in and were being shown around the hotel facilities (bar, spa etc), we were advised that we had been upgraded to an apartment - which was a lovely surprise!! The apartment was amazing - not in the main hotel, but in one of the townhouses owned by hotel - it was luxury - chandeliers, high ceilings, a living room, a little kitchen and then a beautiful bedroom with comfy huge bed and a marble bathroom. We also had massages at the Spa and used the sauna etc - all lovely. It was a great night and great location for dinner. There is a fab tapas bar (recommended by the hotel staff) just a stones throw up the road, which was where we spent our night. Can't wait to come back, we can't recommend enough. Thanks for the lovely stay The Anthenaeum!

Room Tip: I think any room would be lovely - if you can afford to splash out on an apartment, you won't be...

After visiting London for the first time in 1981 and most recently traveling there 7 times since January 2015. I have stayed in several hotels, with mixed luck. It is no secret that London is better than ever before and for the first time in my life clearly more compelling than my home of New York.I have had bad luck in finding proper hotels in London but the Athenaeum was actually one time that the goddess Fortuna had shown favor. The service is excellent, truly. It doesn't get much better. It is on the level of Beau Rivage in Lausanne or the Park Hyatt in Milano in terms of service. The bar/ restaurant stays open around the clock and they seem to specialize in whisky/whiskey, with many options. There are excellent restaurants nearby on Dover. The rooms are bigger than most London hotels. The rooms, hallways, lobby, bar, etc. are all very clean. There isn't a grand lobby for meetings or socializing so don't plan to have meetings there however, the location puts one near so many places to meet for business.
Sincerely,
Dr. Michael A. Reid

Cold room, colder bathroom which the staff said could only be heated using the towel rail.
Worse still a building site view with a huge security camera right by our window.
Ruined our 25th Silver wedding anniversary - so upset still

Room Tip: never book this hotel !!!

From the moment you enter the welcoming atmosphere of this London home your comfort is assured. The central location means all the places of interest are easily accessible. I would always choose to stay there again - and they make the VERY best martinis!

Excellent Hotel, friendly and helpful staff. Particularly the desk and front door staff.
Unfortunately Dinner Menu lets the Hotel down. With the exception of Breakfast
Food very poor, one meal having to be sent back.

Room Tip: Ask for room overlooking Park
