“Welcoming and comfortable stay in understated Edwardian elegance.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 6, 2011

This short trip to London was made exceptional by our visit to The Langham. The hotel has an elegant air with efficient and polite staff always willing to help. We stayed for two nights and slept in one of the most comfortable beds ever! We sampled both buffet and table service breakfasts, both were delicious and impeccably served.

Our stay at the Langham was absolutely superb. We booked our room through the Leading Hotels of the World and got a great rate as well as a complimentary upgrade to an incredibly spacious suite. The aesthetics of the hotel were definitely on the more feminine side, but that suited me just fine, and was still modern enough that my boyfriend loved it as well.
Our only complaint was that we asked the concierge for a recommendation for a nearby bar/lounge and were directed somewhere with a snooty doorman, which was rather unpleasant. Otherwise, we had a wonderful time, and can't wait to go back!

We stayed for a long weekend with friends. We booked a Jnr Suite which was reasonably sized for London. Room was nice and well equipped. Bathroom lovely with plenty of room and wonderful shower. View at the back of the hotel room 729 was just onto offices/roofs but still fine for London. Bed was excellent.

Welcome as you come in was wonderful and doormen were really excellent and super friendly throughout the whole weekend , quickly sorting taxi's and helping with bags etc.

We were pretty early for checkin and the room unsurprisingly wasn't ready. They said they'd put us on priority and call my mobile when it was ready, a great touch I thought.

After 3 hours we went back. The room was ready...sadly I got no call. Exact same thing happened to one of the other couples. No issue with not getting into the room right away but don't promise to call and then don't.......great idea very poorly executed.

Bar on Friday afternoon was quiet and service was a bit hit and miss. Had to ask for nibbles and getting drinks replenished was a bit of a pain until the new shift started about 4pm, after that the new guys were much more switched on. We dropped over 300quid on drinks for 6 of us and service charge is automatically included. With prices that high and the bar being quiet I'd expect crisps and a pretty attentive service. The bar was much better on Saturday evening where they managed to sort out a table for us quickly despite it being pretty full. Nibbles without asking and new drinks were reasonably easy to come by. Staff were very busy and the place having a better buzz.. So much better on Saturday.

We were also in the Bar in the Dorchester on Friday evening and it was head and shoulders above the Langham with better service and atmosphere. We even got in a little VIP bit before we went in for dinner.

Our friends said Breakfast in Langham was excellent and well worth the 30 odd quid with great service and offerings.

Checkout went fine and bags were grabbed and we were out and away quickly. We also got late checkout in the suite up till 2pm on Sunday which is a great offering.

Hotel still haven't removed the pending guarantee payment they had on my credit card a week after I checked in and 5 days after I paid the bill. So again reception/booking a little sloppy.

Its in a great position and its a lovely hotel inside. Bar is OK and its quite a mixed crowd. Lots of staff around and mostly all smiley and helpful, especially front door staff.

The public spaces are beautiful and spacious, but our room was smallish and crammed with too many bulky pieces of furniture; on the other hand the bathroom was comfortable and nicely appointed. The English breakfast was elegantly presented in the main restaurant; but mediocre in taste; the second day I opted for eggs benedict, a better and tastier choice.

We were celebrating our honeymoon but didn't get any special treatment or acknowledgment from the hotel and this was my biggest disappointment. The pool was out of order for three days, too bad because we were really looking forward to enjoying it. No apologies from the staff.

High tea in the chic Palm Court is nice to look at but nothing to write home about. We paid 46 pounds for the more gourmet version, definitely not worth the money.

In summary, beautiful public areas, convenient location but below average rooms for such distinguished 5 star hotel. Daily internet at 20 pounds, rather expensive.

WOW! What an amazing place. Its grand and luxurious, modern yet classic. We were only stay a night as a surprise for my girlfriends birthday. They looked after us really well and make the stay extra special with a few touches such as cupcakes in the room for our birthdays. The room was amazing, very clean, a good size, great shower, comfy bed etc etc I cant think what more you could want! Location was excellent for us; a short walk to the theaters of the west end and Sunday morning we enjoyed a stroll round regent's park.

Only minor thing was the swimming pool not working and this not be communicated to us but when you take everything else into account you cant complain. It was to be fixed on Monday I was told which wasn't much good for us.

But must end on a positive! Everything about this place is great. if you are used to staying to this kind of place then no doubt you will be very happy and impressed. If like us you are going for a special occasion you wont be disappointed.

what can I say about the langham other than its absolute heaven. you feel like royalty from when you arrive at this hotel. it is so luxurious but not protentious! the staff and service is outstanding. breakfast and dinner in the landau restaurant is expensive but an unforgettable experience therefore worth the money! I have stayed their twice now. the 1st time my boyfriend and I booked a classic room but were upgraded to a club room! amazing! the 2nd my nan and I booked a classic room but were upgraded to a grand room. we were celebrating my nans 70th and she recieved complimentary chocs, cakes, wine, flowers all beautifully presented with a hand written card. this hotel is pure bliss and if you want to feel glam and special... Go! just wish I could afford to go here every time I visit london.

Fabulous legendary hotel in london!
Their cocktail bar is a MUST with a grazing menu to die for.
Spacious rooms ( well more spacious than in most london hotels) and the lobby looks elegant and classy.
definitely worth a visit with a great location to match
