“Well worth seeing”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 2, 2012

Great place to visit. But it's expensive! Go there in the winter, it's beautiful in December and there are loads of things to do with kids in the area. It gets very cold at night though as it is near the Thames, prepare gloves and scarves. Skating out is great too!

“So much to learn and see!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 2, 2012

Catch a boat tour (they run all day) and arrive via the Thames.
Make sure you get into a group with a Beefeater as your guide - they are SO entertaining as they recount the BLOODY history of the Tower. Honestly, one of the most fun days I've ever had as a history buff. The Tower is FILLED with interesting historical revelations (like the etchings of prisoners in the walls) and the place holds such long standing historical relevance to London.

Don't miss: The White tower (the oldest), the Bloody Tower (walk between buildings overlooking the greens), The Crown Jewels display, The Greens (where many lost their heads...literally) and the Armoury (along with all the royal armour, they've got wooden carvings of every king and their horses!)

oh... and say hello to the 8 Ravens that 'guard' the Tower grounds - they've been at it for close to a 1000 years ;)

Seriously, this is a 'can't miss' for those with a thirst for history in Old London.

“Loved it!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 2, 2012

We were there the weekend of the paralympics marathon. The whole atmosphere was electric, and the Tower a really interesting couple of hours.
Quite expensive, so plan to spend a couple of hours and take a picnic.

“Tower of London”

Pay the fee to have the 45 min. Yeoman Guard (Beefeater) tour. Well worth the price.
The site is easy to reach by public transportation (we took the Tube)

“Fantastic!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 2, 2012

The tower is incredible. The architecture is amazing. the Crown Jewels are breathtaking. The Beefeater (Yeoman Warder) who was our tour guide, was knowledgeable, funny and very entertaining. This would be, hands down, the best tour I have done in London.

Whilst it might be expensive, I do not think that this is an issue at all as there is 1000 years of history wrapped up in this castle. So much to learn and will be very educational for people of all ages.

i definitely recommend this is the first thing any first time traveller does when arriving in London.
