“Great Little Hotel.. but”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 10, 2010

Hi Everyone!

Just came back from a 5 night stay at tune hotels, in Westminster. These are my thoughts:

Location
The hotel is located literally across the road from Lambeth North Tube station, which is on the Bakerloo line. This is the main reason why I choose this hotel, apart from the low price. Lambeth North is only a couple of stops away from Waterloo, Piccadilly Circus and Oxford Circus. This means you 8 minutes away from Central London.

Rooms
Be warned, THE ROOMS ARE REALLY REALLY SMALL. So if you’re going to be 2 in the room, please ensure that you feel TOTALLY comfortable with the other person, the bathroom door is white transparent, and the double bed is a small double bed so you will be quiet close to each other. But it’s ok if your fine with living in a room which is 9sq meters. However, on the positive side, the room was immaculate clean and brand new.

The bed was really comfy, and the hotel is quiet. You will hear no noises in the corridor that will wake you up.

Service
Reception was great, there is one particular receptionist called Elly if I remember well, she was really sweet and helpful. Also they cleaned our room for free mid way of our stay, which was a nice touch.

Food
There is no breakfast available, except for vending machine with Snacks. BUT! there is a small grocer right across the road (cost cutter) and SPAR a little bit further down. Also, there is Costa Coffee right next door for some fresh coffee.

Night Life
Since we were not in the centre of London there was no night life at all (as expected), there isnt anything to do in the neighbourhood except for an Italian restaurant called Cotto which is OK. But this isn’t really an issue with tube across the road.
Extra Costs

Just beware of the extra costs such as early check in which was 15 pounds (not too bad). 10 pounds for internet for the whole stay and 2 pounds to use the safe.

Price
We paid 35 pounds a night, which is a great price for central London. I personally think it’s REALLY WORTH IT, if your ok with living in a really confined room then GO FOR IT!

First of all thank you very much for your feedback. I will make sure to let Elly know about her helpful service.
Also just to let you know we are starting a breakfast package which you may pre-purchase for £4.95 from October 18, 2010.

August Bank holiday Monday I stayed at the newly-opened Tune Hotel, having taken advantage of their 1p midnight-booking promotion. We had expected the worst and mentally prepared to stay with family if it was a fleapit, but was pleasantly surprised. Had opted for the windowless-room to save £9 but on arrival, was upgraded which meant that we beneftted from natural light and air.

The hotel is opposite the tube but just a 5 min. walk from Waterloo train / tube station so used this route the most for more travel options - all wonderfully close.

Staff were very friendly and the room was spotless with an excellent mattress and pillows which guarantees a fabulous night's sleep. Bring your own travel towel and miniature soap and toiletries if you can to save money. Food can be bought from the nearby grocery store or if you're starving and it's very late, try the take-away opposite where you can also eat inside.

The only negatives are how tiny the room is (luggage can be stored under the bed or in front of the door - prayer there's no fire!), meaning it's a struggle to get out of bed if you are the furthest away from the tardis-like en-suite loo, sink and shower. The lights are incredibly bright so I opted to use the cubicle in the dark rather than waking my partner (leaving the brilliant black-out blind slightly raised helped!). Despite pressing all switches and turning off the A/C, there was a constant hum of air throughout the night forcing us to wear ear plugs.

If you want a cheap, central night and don't suffer from claustrophobia, this is a bargain. Just don't tell everyone so that we can get a room there next time we visit the big smoke!

Clean rooms, comfortable bed, hot water and a pretty good location. Nine quid. what more needs to be said?

I was pleasantly surprised by this hotel. Our room was small (expected) but the décor was lovely, the beds were very comfortable and it was one of the nicest showers I've had. The rooms are very modern, our room had a window so was nice and bright. You have to pay for extras, we paid £1.50 for a towel & £3 for the TV remote for £24 hours. There are other extras available but you pay for what you want/need and overall the prices were reasonable. The best part is the location - 30 second walk to the nearest tube station, 5 minute walk to Waterloo or 4 stops to Piccadilly Circus (10 minutes). Great price, great location, exceptionally clean and compact. I would definitely recommend staying here and I hope that they open a few more in other cities around Europe.

I stayed at the newly opened Tune Hotel and was pleasently surprised . It offers Budget Room accommodation at a great price. The rooms were compact but spotless . Great bed and nice shower. You have to pay extra for your Towels , TV and WIFI and the price was OK . Some decent pubs and Bars nearby and the Horse Pub does some good Thi Food
