“Alittle disappointing this time. Good food poor service.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 26, 2013

We have been here several times and always had an enjoyable evening, however this time we did not have such a good time. While the food was of the usual standard the service was not.The waiter mixed up the order failing to deliver courses booked. The staff appeared to be arguing amongst themselves and we were left pretty much on our own in a room at the top of the stairs for our table of 6 people. This is just not up to standard for what is normally a very fine restaurant.

“Fantastic food and such good value too”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 25, 2013

I went with a friend to celebrate her birthday and we opted for a weekday lunch. We had their Deluxe fixed price menu and it is superb value. A glass of delicious champagne, two glasses of different wines each chosen by the charming female sommelier to go with our meals and three courses including an amuse bouche, pre dessert and petit fours for £50 per head. The service was attentive and charming, the room itself is a little quirky, being a house rather than a purpose built restaurant but it works. The food was spectacular, packed with flavours, beautifully presented but without being over-engineered. We would happily have just stayed put until evening service started. I highly recommend this restaurant.

“Luxurious self-indulgence”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 24, 2013

The service and food were first class as was the ambience in this excellent restaurant. This was lunch for a special occasion. Two of us had the tasting menu, one a la carte. This did not pose any problem to the staff who brought amuse bouche when the tasting course had a course that a la carte did not. Discreet but attentive service. Would certainly recommend.

“Refined cuisine, uneven service and setting”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 20, 2013

Acknowledged master chef, Alexis Gauthier, is fully in form at this intimate townhouse restaurant on one of the shortest streets in a frisky part of Soho. Unfortunately, at least for us on a Saturday night visit, the setting and staff were far from the level of the cuisine. Slow service, poor pairings of wine with food (rich halibut with a screetchy pinot noir from Alsace?), and basic plating errors (tortellini with truffles on a cold plate which blunted the dish) brought down the level of our enjoyment. The American zone for the evening was the front room: try to avoid it. On the positive, top Sommelier consultant Roberto della Pietra has found some exceptional wines - the brut rose champagne is fabulous and real value - available in bottle and by the glass. Too few hands available on Saturday night suggests that a week night would be a better day to book. Young French staff without a knowledgeable Manager. Still worth the snafus.
