“Tired and complacent”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 13, 2013

I used to like Carluccio's but have become less enthusiastic since their menu is somewhat tired. We ate there recently - and the goat's cheese salad was acceptable but nothing spectacular however there are few options for vegetarians so it had to do.
More worryingly the waitress refused to bring an unopened bottle of wine stating that it was policy to deliver wine opened 'to save time' - even though it had a screw cap! This is not acceptable - even for a chain seeking a quick turnaround.
Although there are few places to eat after a visit to the Renoir I shall think twice before venturing here again.

“Great food; great atmosphere”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 11, 2013

A relative booked the meal. We had not been before. The service was great; friendly and efficient. The food was lovely. It was pretty busy and there is a great buzz in the early evening. We had the two course meal so good value for money too. Would warmly recommend it to anyone. Fab.

“Friendly helpful staff, good food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 17, 2013

We had a lovely meal - the three of us decided to share our starters and the staff very helpfully gave us extra plates to enable this. The service was friendly and attentive but not intrusive. The mains were lovely - I had the lobster, crab and crayfish lasagne which was delicious with plenty of meat. The cheeseboard could have done with a few more biscuits (although I'm sure if I had asked they probably would have provided some). The accompanying truffle honey was not to my taste but one of my guests enjoyed it.

“Buy those cakes on the way out!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 15, 2013

To make your way into the bright and modern restauurant you have to pass the most scrumptious looking cakes, which are in their deli.I just had to buy huge pillows of meringues ,irresistible, although a bit of a problem to carry home intact.I was welcomed very warmly & asked where I would like to sit.I didn't want a drink, but was brought a glass of water immediately. There was a good choice of meals, and no one seemed to have to have one if all they wanted was a coffee even though this was lunchtime.Clean toilets and on the ground level.Gratuities are extra, very reasonable prices. This is very convenient for visitors to the hospitals dotted around Queen Square and others leaving Russell Square tube station, before making their way to the British Museum.

“A good, convenient place for a meal or drink”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 28, 2013

Much as I like the Brunswick Centre, the atmosphere is that of a shiny glass restaurant in an upmarket shopping centre. On my last visit I just had a hot chocolate, and my companion had a hot chocolate and some sort of a cake. The hot chocolate is proper Italian and is of very high quality, definitely a higher standard that you get at a lot of places that claim to serve real, thick Italian hot chocolate. Prices are on the high side, but no more so than is normal for this area. Service was good, and it's very clean. Overall, not a favourite of mine, but recommended as a good, functional place to go to in this area.
