“Highly recommended - a great Sunday lunch”

We had a wonderful Sunday lunch at the Princess of Shoreditch - really delicious food, a broad range of beer and wine, a calm atmosphere and attentive, friendly service.

“The perfect Sunday roast”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 21, 2014 via mobile

We've all heard of gastro pubs and been disappointed. But The Princess of Shoreditch really is the Queen of gastro pubs. The Sunday roast we had yesterday was perfect. Melt in the mouth meat, crispy roast potatoes and vegetables served with their colours bright and their texture firm and all of it piping hot. I'm still drooling the next day.
There are fine choices of Kentish lamb, poussin, sirloin, roast beef and veggie options. They are all cooked to perfection and great value for London at a shade under £17. The starters are perfect appetisers which get you ready for the main event and the desserts a mix of light and naughty depending on your whim. All told three courses are about £30 and the sumptuous wine list and coffee will take you to around £50 a head for a treat that lasts in the memory.
To complete the picture of perfection the service is friendly, professional, unhurried and discreet. Full marks to our waiter for recommending a chilled red wine which was just right.
Shoreditch is a great part of London. It's full of life, zest and vitality. Sunday in Shoreditch is perfect with a stroll round Colombia Road market and then on to The Princess. Best to book.

“Lovely food but could do with some lighter lunch options”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 16, 2014 via mobile

Took a client out here. The food and service is lovely but the menu doesn't have much in the way of lighter summer options. In the end I chose a hot thai salmon salad which tasted lovely. A seared salmon fillet over delicately flavoured cabbage but I was really hoping for something cold. Been a couple of times before and will undoubtedly return.

“Currently the best Sunday roast in London”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 10, 2014

This is the third time this year that I've been with friends for Sunday lunch and each time has been even better than the last (if that's possible!). I only have the main course as the helpings are so huge that I wouldn't be able to manage a starter as well. And sadly I've only ever been able to manage a small share of a pudding.
Last 2 times roast pork (tender, succulent and wonderful crackling), this time roast beef (rare, very tender and very tasty). Spuds crunchy on the outside & soft in the middle, mixed veg absolutely perfectly cooked with just a little bit of crunch in the cabbage. Excellent gravy (not a drop of Bisto in sight) and very good Yorkshire pud. Couldn't do better at home - it was perfect. Staff very friendly & helpful. Guest ales superb.
