I ate at the Hill a couple of times under its previous owners and it was deeply, deeply average. Expensive for what it was and with disinterested service. Not now.
I've been about six or seven times in the last year and each time eat there I decide I have to go more often. Service is great and the food fabulous. This isn't a pizzeria that occasionally tries it's hand at something else and it is streets ahead of the chains. Yep - the massive pizzas are good but for me it's the meat that is amazing. Their steaks are exceptional and generous and their sides fresh and lovely. The wine list is good and very fair value and the touch of complimentary limoncello at the meal's end is always appreciated. (I can't comment on the desserts - never made it that far!)
The Hill is a bit off the beaten tourist track, on Royal Hill. And it's nice for that. It's clearly a restaurant rather than a gastro pub but it's got a good bar area. It deserves to thrive and for now has a Taste offer but I almost feel guilty using the card at this restaurant...
