Description: Renowned throughout London and beyond, Petrus is one of the biggest names on the restaurant scene. With the world-renowned Gordon Ramsay behind the scheme to raise Petrus - now located on Knightsbridge's Kinnerton Street - from the ashes, the restaurant exudes the famous Ramsay sense of luxury combined with down-to-earth charm. Decorated in subtle tones of champagne, oyster and copper along with the claret red which inspired the restaurant's name, Petrus's beguiling interior is superbly decadent and romantic and actually quite intimate. In the kitchen, Head Chef Sean Burbidge is creating its trademark modern French menu. At Petrus the highest-quality ingredients go into dishes that combine delicious familiar flavours with unique presentation. Expect waves of divine amuse-bouches and a stupendous wine list, including a long list of vintages of Petrus to make it all perfect.

“Heaven”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 17, 2013

From the greeting at the door this experience was perfect, attentive and friendly staff, relaxed atmosphere and an extensive choice on the menu, I really cannot fault anything about Petrus.

The wine list is huge and also very expensive, therefore we opted for the beer before working through the a la carte menu. Every course was presented well and there was sufficient quantity to ensure we were well and truly full at the end. The evening was finished off with a visit to the kitchen which was a nice touch.

I would recommend a visit here and fully understand the reason why it is rated so highly, the best Ramsay restaurant I have visited, including Claridges.

“We thought it would be all smoke and mirrors but we were oh so wrong - amazing!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 17, 2013 via mobile

Forget some of the guff from other reviewers about "big-headed" staff, they were all delightful, unassuming, attentive, and consummate professionals. They were willing to exchange pleasantries, to answer any questions in a friendly and informative manner and to, as the Irish say, have the craic !! The food was exquisite, with surprises and ingenuity that flirted with your tastes buds! The staff were absolutely amazing, and when we visited the spotless and industrious kitchen, the delightful young Scottish lady pastry chef went out of her way to share some of her heavenly gastronomic tips with my forever grateful wife. Nothing was too much trouble, the staff are obviously forever mindful that they survive, to a large extent, as an extravagance for many of the diners who are celebrating an occasion, and they go out of there way to make it an occasion to remember. They work seamlessly as a team and it just works perfectly! You may struggle to marry the two contrasting needs in the demanding City of London, Michelin starred dining with an unpretentious charm but Petrus did it marvellously. The lunch can be an amazing bargain, and an opportunity to sample fine dining at a very reasonable cost. Give it a try, you will NOT be disappointed! I apologise for the superlatives - not the use of them - just in case I've missed any out!!

“The dining experience that went on and on....”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 16, 2013

Booked for my boyfriends birthday after reading reviews on Trip Advisor, Petrus is deservedly No 1! We were given attentive service from start to finish without being intrusive, the setting was perfectly intimate and menu delicous. We went with the a la carte 3 courses, such good value for the quality of the food... but we also had canapes, amuse bouche, pre-desert, amazing chocolates with our coffee, ice cream treats before receiving our bill and a chocolate treat on exit... this is not just going out for a special meal, it's a dining experience that we just wanted to share with everyone!! My only little issue was with the wine menu, it's immense - pick your food and then get a recommendation from the Sommelier and as with similiar places it's the plonk that's expensive!! However, for a special occasion where you would expect to spend more it's definitely a must!!

“Posh but parsimonious.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 16, 2013

My husband and I ate here for a landmark birthday meal and chose the 9 course tasting menu. Every single item on that tasting menu was perfection itself. The problem was each course constituted around a small tablespoon of food. One expects the earlier course to be small, piquant and tantalising but at some point you really do imagine you'll be given an actual plate of food. Added to this there was the usual hallowed, whispering all-worship-the-food atmosphere we were coming to associate with Michelin stars (we have since given up on Michelin stars and now spend our money in places where laughing is allowed).
As it was a birthday meal we ordered champagne and a bottle of red. We left drunk, hungry and £350 lighter.

“Lovely but pricey”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 15, 2013

Very good food as you would expect and excellent although slightly over the top service. There's a tendency to push very expensive champagne at the start if the meal but there is an excellent selection of wines, needs to work hard to keep up its reputation but still very good if you want something a bit special. Start saving now!
