“Great Location, disappointing view”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 13, 2013

We booked the hotel because of its prime location as it is a 10 min walk to waterloo station and just steps away from big ben, house of parliament and westminster abbey. The room size was decent, very stylish and modern however we were facing the atrium bcz we knew we will be in the room at night so there was no point of upgrading to a more expensive room for a view if you are not going to be enjoying it. nonetheless the room does not get sunlight or natural light and the room lighting in my opinion was insufficient. It was impossible to put on make up in the morning!
We did have the continental breakfast included with our room which was really good!
On a side note... i ended up needing an adapter for my flat iron from US to UK and instead of them offering one as a courtesy I ended up paying 7 pounds for it when other hotels do usually leave one in the room from my experience. But they did have an international outlet for phone/camera/laptop chargers obviously not strong enough for a flat iron.
All in all it was a great stay, very friendly service and DO NOT MISS THE RESTAURANT BRASSERIE JOEL best dinner we had in London.
I would definitely stay here again

Room Tip: if you can afford to upgrade to a room with a view, it is worth it.

Dear Mireilless,

Thank you for your review, we are pleased you enjoyed your stay with us and we’re delighted you’ll be returning in the near future.

For your next visit for an external facing view please select a Studio room and for an iconic view its Studio Iconic View or One Bedroom Iconic View.

Thank you for your great feedback on Brasserie Joel and your recommendation.

Please note regarding the adapter that the cost is to purchase the items as they are individually sealed and it is yours to keep permanently.

I ended up booking the 'duplex suite' which is one of two rooms available within the entire hotel - it is set over two floors with stunning views of the parliament and the London Eye on a private terrace. The upstairs section had the bedroom which was made at a high standard. The bedroom led to the bathroom which was huge with an almost jacuzzi style bath. If I had to pick at anything, it would have been the lack of power in the shower; though there were two shower heads so it wasn't much of an issues. The lower floor had a small lounge with a huge terrace - I wasn't expecting the terrace to be so big but it definitely added the final touches to the suite.

This was actually a special occasion for me as I proposed to my other half - I had arranged for a string quartet to be present on the terrace - the Guest Relations team ensured that the whole set-up and execution of the proposal plan ran smoothly.

In particular, Stuart Coombes' (guest relations) enthusiasm and willingness to help made it an extra special day for me - often you find people merely doing a job, but Stuarts passion in what he does to help people encouraged me and his service went beyond expectations.

We also used the spa the following day which was fantastic - we went for the couples massage which had a foot ritual, Balinese massage followed by a tester facial - this was a very good experience, and although slightly pricey, highly recommended.

I would highly recommend the hotel & talking to Stuart if you have any plans that need to be executed and coherently planned.

Nik

Dear nikgohil,

Thank you for your review and kind words regarding Stuart.

I have shared your comments and he sends his regards and it was his pleasure to assist you with such a special occasion.

Our Duplex rooms are certainly special aren’t they with that beautiful spiral staircase and breathtaking views on the terrace.

You know where we are for your first anniversary!!

We were picked up at Heathrow by a very nice driver and delivered to Park Plaza.
We carried our own bags to reception as no assistance was there.

Reception was unclear and poor answers to questions asked. We took our own bags to our room.

The room was good but we were a little disappointed with the view of the atrium, basically a blank wall. The view from our third floor corridor was Westminster Bridge and Big Ben……..magnificent.

We upgraded to full English breakfast which was very good and the waitresses were very helpful, communicative and warm.

The location could not be bettered and the hop on hop off bus stopped yards away on the end of the bridge.

We feel because of the position of the hotel it enhanced our stay in London

This big, well appointed hotel is stylish, with good space for meeting people. It is clean, modern, with good facilities in a perfect location a stone's throw from Waterloo station and the Houses of Parliament. The rooms are big and well appointed. There are lots of staff. The decor is modern and fairly artistic. With a taxi rank outside and all the public transport you need near by this is an ideal London base for business or pleasure.

Right over the river thames across from Parliment. Had a room with great views directly at Big Ben. That was worth it alone. The rooms are great value on most weekends. Get a Studio overlooking the thames (Iconic View) .

Restaruant is not great - room service was very good though,

I spent two nights at the Park Plaza Westminster Bridge for business this week. I asked for a room on a low floor which I also got and was upgraded to a very nice room with a livingroom with ample space, bathroom "cube" with both shower and bathtub, and bedroom. I discovered that I forgot my adapter at home but the desk in the room had possibilities to connect both UK, European and US chargers which was a pleasant surprise! I had two large TV's with good selection of channels. The room was spotlessly clean and very modern. Plenty of elevators that were very quick. Pool and gym with easy access. The hotel was very full but the breakfast worked fine as they opened up a "parallell" breakfast in the bar area - no queuing for food. Staff seated you so you did not have to look around for a free table. Nice bar with a nice buzz. Easy to go to Heathrow and to other areas in London. Plenty of staff at checkin, breakfast, concierge and entrance.

Room Tip: The rooms with both livingroom and separate sleeping area were fantastic - especially if you will no...

Clean, modern, great service & faciltiies, good food, excellent location. They even offer a free 30 min personal trainer for each night you stay - love that! Unfortuately when I was stay here on bsuiness I got very sick, through no fault of the hotel. The hotel staff could not have been more attentive and helpful. As a result, when I was back a month later I chose to stay here again.

Dear KM_travelbug,

Thank you for your review, we’re pleased you enjoyed all we had to offer, including our offer for the first 30 mins with our personal trainer on a complimentary basis for our guests.

I trust you have recovered from your illness and our main concern was ensuring you were comfortable.
