“Decent real ale and lovely food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 15, 2014

This is a 'proper' pub, just off Kingsway, WC2.
They do real ale which is well kept.
The bar menu is very reasonable. The best pork pie ever - served with homemade chutney (would love the recipe for the chutney. Companion had the fish finger sandwich, which was excellent. Only complaint is that he ordered it with chips - and we were not advised it comes with chips anyway, which was a bit cheeky of the bar staff. A great choice for a pub lunch, but suggest you arrive early for a seat as it is a popular place.

“Awesome Sunday Roast”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 27, 2013

We went here last week after a long day of walking in London. My son had just finished his study abroad and never had a chance to try the Sunday Roast tradition. We knew the Ship Tavern was known for their Sunday Roast and it did not disappoint!! Place was loaded with locals. Great atmosphere and awesome food!! We all went with the beef roast, but a lot of other people were sharing the whole chicken which looked great also. We loved their house beer al well.

“OK Beer, but nothing special.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 6, 2013

The Beer was OK, but nothing more, the service was grumpy, and there wasn't any great character. Having said that, it is probably the better than most other options if you are looking for a quick pint in the Holburn area.

It is quite easy to find, just go down the first alleyway next to the exit for the Underground.
