Twas our first time to travel to London (and UK), and Hotel Rafayel was the 3rd of 4 hotels we stayed in. But it was the best one we've booked so far. Checking in was fast; reception was friendly. Room was very very spacious -- we took the Niles suite (partial view of the Thames, but with the jacuzzi). The bathroom was huge, more like bigger than other bedrooms of other hotels. There were laminated instructions for the use of the jacuzzi and the shower. Shampoo and conditioner was lovely and unlimitted. There's a tv facing the jacuzzi, on the dining room and in the bedroom. So much space for the luggage. A soft comfortable sofa. The bed was really comfy and pillows very very soft. There's free wi-fi in the room!
Distance or location was not really a problem, contrary to what others say. There's a bus 170 that stops a few meters from the hotel entrance. This bus heads to Victoria, passing by Chelsea (and the famous Chelsea Physic Garden). Or, you can cross the street and take the same 170 bus to Clapham Junction, where the tube as well as the Southern trains are (we took the train to visit Hever Castle). For those not comfortable with the bus, one can book/reserve a seat in the free shuttle that goes to Clapham Junction -- but you have to wait 30 minutes.
We only had in-room breakfast in the hotel, and they start serving at 630am. Bakery basket was generous. Coffee was not bad.

This outstanding hotel stands out for its impressive facilities, staff friendliness, efficient service and excellent room quality.

Don’t be put off by its location on the south side of the river. After staying in an array of, frankly horrible hotels in London, all of which looked nice in online pictures and turned out to be far from clean or comfortable, it was a total delight to come across Hotel Rafayel - a hotel that does what it says on the box and more. And having also stayed in some of the top hotels in London on business, I have to say that Hotel Rafayel manages to compete with the most luxurious hotels at great value for money (an introductory price of £120 for a basic ground floor room).

For a start there is a hotel shuttle service that runs regularly - up to every 30 minutes - into Clapham Junction or the Common, both of which have very fast links into the town centre. If you do not have time to wait the 30 minutes the bus stop for the 170 is right outside the hotel and will take you straight to Victoria station in 15 minutes. This was perfect for us as we needed to get into town often and quickly.

The room we stayed in was the most basic room available but it was an oasis of calm after a hectic day in town and we found it to be far from basic. The bed was so luxurious we were loathe to hop out of it in the mornings, the sheets clean and soft. The room was spotless and heavy curtains and blinds kept the early morning sunshine from the large windows (which was plentiful) at bay perfectly.

The bathroom was gorgeous too, again clean and beautifully designed. The shower particularly took us by surprise, very spacious and fitted with all sorts of amazing water jets - brilliant after a stuffy day in town! The products in the bathroom were such a lovely touch, Neom organics, usually only available from top stores like Selfridges, left my hair shiny and smelled divine. It definitely saved us from buying extra from the shops that we weren't allowed to take on the plane. Accompanied by fluffy white towels and complimentary dressing gowns, we were shocked by the astounding value for money. And for ladies wanting to blow dry or straighten hair there are lots of mirrors with handy plugs nearby.

The room also had a mini bar station with a kettle, specialised teas and the usual goodies in the fridge. Our flat screen television appeared to have its own in-house digital system which was easy to navigate and when we needed to iron some clothes the hotel reception swiftly provided an iron and a board. There is no WIFI but you can connect a laptop to a cable which worked well.

We didn't eat at the hotel restaurant, Banyan on The Thames, but we had a drink with one of the bar staff at the Crystal Bar after merrily arriving back from a night out. We were impressed with the inventive and varied menu that was peppered with Indian influences (the hotel owner is originally from Pakistan), as well as original takes on classic favourites. Other touches within the hotel itself included an in-house cake shop, which we found very handy for last minute gifts, and a florist.

We would definitely return to this hotel and highly recommend it as a haven to any strung-out travellers looking for luxury at the affordable introductory price or couples on romantic weekends.

It was our second visit & we decided to stay for two days its so good.
Beds like sleeping on a cloud.
Fab room very spacious, enormous bathroom ,tv to watch whilst bathing.
Decor of hotel exquisite,so tastefully furnished throughout.modern and contemporary with plush comfort .
Loved the lounge areas on every floor.
Very relaxing spa and well equipped gym,
Best of all the brilliant staff, always smiling and attended to our every need.
Food in the restaurant with the superb view of the Thames was delicious and very competitively priced.
From the moment we arrived until Errol the valet?(what a gentleman ! ) brought our car to the front door we felt we hadindeed had a five star experience.
This will certainly be our first choice of London Hotel for future stays.
With its very favourable rates,Green and environmental policy and dlightful atmosphere it cetainly a gem on the Thames.

Last but not least I must comment on meeting Iqbal the manager, who takes time with guests to ensure that all is well. What a genuine, lovely pleasant efficient man

I travel to London many times each month on business and I have stayed in many hotels in London but I must say this hotel is the best by far! Excellent rooms! Excellent location! Excellent facilities ! The spa and gym are top class! And the price is so low I didn't believe it at first! I would recommend this hotel to anybody wanting to have a 5 star experience for a 3 star price!

Coming up to our 1 year anniversary the reason for our trip was to stay in a 5 star hotel nearby the city and enjoy the sights of London. I will begin with the location. Initially we both thought that it was too far away from where we wanted to be, however after understanding the underground and the bus time table slightly better the location was certainly not as bad as we thought. The Hotel offered a courtesy taxi journey to the nearest underground which would normally cost you around £8 - £10, this is obviously a good service in offer. We actually never took this courtesy journey as we came across a bus stop about 20 yards away from the hotel, which you could take the 170 straight to Victoria Station, taking only around 12 minutes. From here you could go anywhere you wanted with a short underground straight into Leister Square. The short 170 bus journey from Victoria Station back to the hotel was onto the early hours of the morning.

About a week before our stay my Girlfriend E-Mailed the Hotel enquiring about us both getting a treatment in the Luxurious Spa. Considering this was a 5 Star Hotel we would have expected a prompt reply. It wasn't till we got to the Hotel and at the check-in desk asked why we had not had a response the reply we got was "the spa has been mayhem this week." As my girlfriend works in this industry she thought that this was very below average.

We checked into the hotel and took our luggage up to our Hotel Room. The Deluxe Room (Luxurious room with more space and a sleek seating area). Our Deluxe Room was a "Premier Inn Room" with nicer decor, the seating area was a desk and one seat, the view was the back of Halfords and a skip. Booking.com state this was a Deluxe Room, according to Hotel Rafayel the Deluxe Room was a Amazon Suite. The Amazon Suite is the hotels "middle-class" room, it looks to me as if we were given the Mississippi Room, which is the standard.

After asking back at reception about our room the girl done what she could to give us a better room. She showed us two different rooms and we took the one which had the nice view and more space, the one we should have been given in the first place. The receptionist mentioned to us that she had dealt with several situations like this before. I believe that between Booking.com and Hotel Rafayel there is a great misunderstanding with regards to the descriptions of the rooms.

Our Hotel Room was just round the corner, on the same floor as the Spa reception which appeared to be very quiet each time we walked past, quiet enough that not once there was a host at the desk. The fact that the treatments were all 50% off my Girlfriend was desperate for a treatment. With no-one at the Spa Reception Desk we asked at the Main Reception in the Hotel Lobby. We had to leave our number for someone to get back to us as even the Gent Receptionist could not get a hold of someone at the Spa. About 6 hours (better late than never) someone got back to us, these times never suited us due to other commitments previously arranged.

Overall our experience wasn't a bad one, the hotel was clean, decorated to a very high standard with the latest technology. I think the Hotel has a lot more potential, its the little things that count!

The only worrying thing for me is that my parents arrive at the hotel in November, as they are visiting friends. Lets just hope they have a better experience than we did!

have stayed here a few times now and have always enjoyed the experience. tried the restaurant for dinner on last stay and was very pleasantly surprised at the quality of the offer. stayed in a Nile suite with great views of river which were spectacular. Some reviewers have commented adversely about the location but it is so easy to check this out before booking.
