A friend and I try to visit the Goucho Tower Bridget two or three times a year as a treat, the last time being in June. We have always had an excellent experience, and of the three London Gouchos I've visited in the past, this is certainly my favourite.
As many people have commented here, the view of Tower Bridge is stunning (even as a Londoner, it really is something to relish). Tables aren't available outside, but the view from within through picture windows is truly memorable if you are lucky enough to have a window table.
All the staff have always been incredibly knowledgeable, courteous and helpful (to the extent once, of even reminding me which bottle of a particularly enjoyable wine I had ordered on a previous visit). I've never encountered that level of service, or ability elsewhere in London.
There are, helpfully two wine lists. The main list offers a fine selection from around £35 - £100 per bottle, and includes some excellent Argentinean reds. The Fine and Rare Wines List has some spectacular Malbecs in particular ...and they truly are spectacular.
There's a fairly small starter menu; I can recommend the Empanadas and Chorizio Sausage. For seafood lovers, there's also an interesting selection of Ceviche dishes, which I have yet to try.
Of course, the main event however is Gouchos superb selection of steaks. There's a lovely element of theatre introduced by knowledgeable waiting staff, who will bring a platter of different beef cuts to your table before you order, and explain their nuances. If you're entertaining friends / colleagues who've not visited a Goucho, this always provides an unexpected talking point, and can help "break the ice" if your guests have not met before, as will the decor! It's small, thoughtful touches which combine to create a memorable evening.
Suffice to say, we've never been disappointed by the superb quality of food.
I thoroughly recommend Goucho Tower Bridge. In particular, guests and people visiting London will I'm sure love the place. This quality and level or service isn't cheap, (expect to pay £75 per head and up), but compares well to other London places of such quality and is I feel very good value
On a couple of occasions, we have been the last to leave the restaurant well past closing time, yet have never been made to feel rushed or harried. Excellent service from start to finish, and always a memorable evening, which will provide a talking point in the future!
