“Not what we expected”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 16, 2013 via mobile

After the rave reviews, maybe our expectations were too high. We took the Italian Job tour. Never a mention of the overalls/caps that are advertised (I thought that would be part of the silly fun). Maybe since we said we had seen the usual tourist sights, it threw our guide Sam off. Lots of driving - not a lot of information & be aware if you are close to 6' as my husband is, you will see nothing from the backseat as his head was above the window level. I encouraged him to sit in front, but the guide didn't, so he felt uncomfortable changing seats. Overall disappointing.

In our opinion, a good business relentlessly strives for perfection, but a great business knows perfection is not always possible therefore puts procedures in place to maintain 100% customer satisfaction. Our business is run by humans and humans are imperfect creatures. We feel that the true mark of a great business is not how well we deliver success, but how we resolve failure.

We have hundreds of procedures that we put in place to try and make your experience with us as mindbogglingly awesome as possible. To name just a handful - each driver takes six months to train up, we hand pick our favourite stories from over thirty different publications, we compile a swinging compilation of classic 60s tracks for the stereo, we relentlessly scour the internet for road closures/protests/events or anything else that might disrupt your tour, we forge friendships with local businesses so we can recommend the best places to eat and drink where-ever you end up. We are acutely aware of our reputation on TripAdvisor and try very hard to never disappoint.

Sometimes we get it wrong; when the traffic is worse than usual or the car suffers a puncture or we are running behind schedule for whatever reason, we have taken over 10,000 people round so far and sometimes things go astray. All of our guides are trained to remedy any issues on the spot which is why Sam was surprised when I told her about this review. She puts her hands up and fully admits she forgot to offer the jumpsuits and caps, which are absolutely all part of the fun of our tour. For that she apologies unreservedly. With regards to the view, we state on our website that passengers over 6ft might find it more of a struggle than passengers under 6ft. We do no hind behind the fact that the car is small. We also have Minis with full length sunroofs so on a hot day you can whip the top off and your view will be uninterrupted. We feel the customer should decide where they would like to sit. An equal proportion of people might be offended if we told you where to sit. Sam also mentioned that she identified what the client wanted to see, which wasn't the normal touristy stuff, but things like Abbey Road and the back streets of Covent Garden etc. and that they specifically commented on how they would never have seen half of what they saw if they hadn't taken the tour, and then proceeded to generously tipped her.

As soon as we became aware that Rebecca was dissatisfied with the experience I wrote to her and spoke to Sam. I sent my apologies along with an offer to book her in for another tour while she was still in London with another driver, free of charge, to try and prove that the reviews were justified. Failing this a full refund was offered if she wanted it.

When you book with us it is not just the experience that we try to make seamless and brilliant, it is also the booking process, the emails running up to the event, every phone call, every recommendation and every email after. We will bend over backwards to give you the best time possible, but we can't remedy issues that we don't know are there. If you are in anyway unhappy with anything, just tell us and we will make it right.

It is so incredibly competitive at the top of TripAdvisor that if you want to remain at the top you simply cannot have a single unhappy customer; even an average review will send our page tumbling down the rankings. We have tried everything in our power to turn Rebecca's experience into a positive one and I hope our new customers feel we have too.

Kind regards,

Robert. Welch
Managing Director.

“A real MUST do when in London”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 15, 2013

Done London many times, and always end up doing the hop-on hop-off buses, but when looking for inspiration for my latest trip, I came across this firm and just from reading reviews online and their website, I was booked within minutes.

We took the 1 and a half hour Italian Job tour that took as right around Cental London to the places which the bus tours do not (being a music fan was great to see where Jimi Hendrix lived and the famous Beatles Apple Offices - where they played their roof top gig).

Our Guide Samantha was a real pleasure and really knew her stuff and took us to all off the track places within the city and told us the history (much better than listening to a recording)

Driving around in the middle of the summer in 27C heat, with the windows down, every time we stopped at lights people would take photo's, or would shout into the car about where and how much to do this tour.

Might seem a little pricey at first, but worth every single penny, and will be sure to take my wife on the same tour when we revisit London.

“More fun than the double decker”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 14, 2013

If you're going to see London, you must do it in the most quintessential British vehicle. Not the double decker, the original Mini Cooper. The tours are more intimate and personal - you get to go through streets you normally would have skipped had you gone on that big bus. The tour guides were super friendly and cool. I'd definitely recommend this tour.

“There's no other tour like this, brilliant!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 11, 2013 via mobile

The tour absolutely made our day. I have been to London thousands of times and I learnt things on this tour and saw things I never knew existed! The tour was so much fun in the mini, such a unique and exciting drive. Everyone loves the car as you drive past- you feel like a celebrity! The driver was very knowledgeable and fun to spend time with. Thanks for the great tour.

“Excellent Tour”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 8, 2013

Recently took the small car big city 1.5 hour tour. They picked us up at our Hotel near James park Tube Station and off we went. We got to see everything in the city and were dropped off where we wanted to have lunch. All the reviews are correct...this is a great tour. Thank you Small Car
