“Yummy food, good service ”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 8, 2014

We ate here tonight after returning on a Golden Tours bus from Harry Potter studios. We started with the Brie Fondue which was yummy. It came with three slices of bread - we had to order more bread to finish the fondue. The three of us split two entrees. Sausage and mash and fish and chips. Both were wonderful. Drinks were great, too. Would recommend and wish we could eat there again!!

“Very pleasant & enjoyable meal”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 8, 2014

After being a little apprehensive as we walked through the busy Friday late afternoon (5.15pm) bar area, we found the restaurant downstairs a very different area. The meal of steaks were all well cooked to our personal tastes and we had force ourselves to find a bit more room for the delicious desserts. Very pleasant and relaxed before heading to the Victoria Apollo to watch Wicked. Thanks.

“A fantasy of London Pub Dining come to Life”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 1, 2014

We all have a vision of what eating in a London pub must be like -- we've seen it in movies and read about it in books. St. George's tavern is the place where it all comes together. Walking down the stairs and into the surprisingly large space was like taking a trip back in time. The decor was soft and warm, dark woods with antiques and old theatre posters. We were greeted promptly by a very friend staff...there seemed to be only three people working, but no one in the place seemed to be kept waiting. In fact, I was very surprised at how fast our meals came out. The waitress was very helpful and took the time to explain the menu items to us.

I was particularly interested in the cask ales they served. I never tried one before but went with their newest in-house cask ale. And wow! I am hooked. despite the fact that it is served warmer than the beer I am used to...the whole process of pull the ale from a cask through a hand-pump and the swan neck tap....it is something everyone should try...even if you don't normally drink beer -- the London Cask Ales are worth the curiosity!

I order the sausage and mash and my wife a chicken and mushroom pie. Both meals were plentiful and satisfying. the puffy pastry crust on the pie gave me instant meal envy! But thankfully, my wife allowed me a few sample bites. The sauce was perfect and the mushroom flavor not overpowering. The chicken was soft and plentiful...and the pastry crust was heaven. The sausage mash had three venison sausages...so very tasty! And the mashed potatoes were just lumpy enough to know they are real. And the gravy was again...not enough to overpower the flavors of the potatoes and sausages.

A very nice place with great service!
