Owner description: Ripping Yarns have been leading Jack the Ripper tours into Whitechapel for over 25 years. We remain a small Company who believe that small Group Sizes and personal interaction will surpass your expectations, as opposed to the Larger Advertised Companies who now Operate in the area. The Tour is recommended in the Rick Steves Guide book to London 2011/12. The cost is just £8.00, Where else could you get a great night in London for that price? But perhaps the best measure of the Tour comes from our many customers. which are a fitting testament to the level of satisfaction. All the Guides are serving Yeoman Warders (Beefeaters) from the Tower of London, so you can be assured that your Guide knows how to conduct a tour properly and "tell a tale" the content is such that it weaves the story of Jack the Ripper, the social background and the history of the area, helping to paint the most vivid mental picture of life and death in London's East End, this is backed up by Crime Scene Photographs, Letters and Evidence, you will not just get some "off pat script" or gimmicks but an up close and personal story. Watch out for our new tour starting soon ghosts ghouls and grisly bits.

“Great fun....”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 3, 2013

Our tour guide was Ken and he was great! Not only was he animated and knowledgeable but he is also a Beefeater at the Tower of London and a very nice person! He led us through small streets and alleyways to what used to be convents, churches and brothels into the actual areas of each of the murders that took place. We walked through White Chapel and down Brick Lane though curry lined streets to see rows of houses that have stood there for a very long time. The group was small, only 6 of us and then Ken but he led us anyways back into history and it was nice not having to fight a crowd to listen to the commentary. We would definitely recommend taking the time to do it if you can.

“excellent tour”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 28, 2013

On sat 27th April my husband and I went on this tour and Chris was our guide. It was fantastic and extremely interesting and informative. Chris was a fabulous storyteller and he held our interest for over 2 hours, even when it started raining hailstones he was unfazed. I bought a voucher on Wowcher and it cost£4 per ticket which was unbelievable value, even without a voucher the cost is only £8 each. I highly recommend this tour, go with the best and don't bother with the poor imitation companies,Ripping Yarns knows it's stuff.

“a FANTASTIC evening in London!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 22, 2013

My boyfriend and I took the tour and we had Dickie as our tour-guide. What a great way to spend an evening in London! We spotted so many different 'Jack the Ripper' tours around the area whilst on our tour, but was pleased we had chosen the Ripping Yarns tour. We were SO impressed with Dickie our guide - not only a 'Beefeater' by day, you could clearly tell this wasn't just a 'job' to him, he thoroughly LOVES the history of London and the tale of Jack the Ripper. He took his time, we weren't rushed around the tour and he also told us other interesting facts unrelated to the tour. So professional, but comforable and casual at the same time, and SO KNOWLEDGABLE!! His constant enthusiasm, charm and humour made the tour an absolute pleasure! Great value for money, I would recommend to anyone, all ages! Thanks Dickie for making our night!

“Jack the Ripper Tour with Ripping Yarns”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 22, 2013

We went up to London last weekend and went on this tour on the Saturday evening. Our tour guide was Dickie who was delightful! Not only did he paint an amazing picture of the gruesome murders which took place in Whitechapel all those years ago but he was also a font of information about other areas of interest, such as where Diagon Alley was filmed for Harry Potter! It was a very interesting tour and 2 hours went very quickly even though it quite cold towards the end. We saw other tour operators on our walk and I think we had the best one; one walked around with speakerphone which echoed all over the place, not good....
