We were recommended Sazio by some friends who live locally. I get very disillusioned by most suburban restaurants, and especially in Hatch End which has more than twenty restaurants on one high street. It used to be dominated by Fellini's which unfortunately went off some years ago, but he still pulls in big crowds. Rotisserie is there and is of a standard, but I wouldn't make a special journey for most of the others. So, what a lovely surprise we had with Sazio. We were the first in at 6.00 p.m. and had a lovely chat with Daddo the manager before ordering. He's really dedicated and seems to have a lot of experience in managing restaurants. He specially recommended I try their special veal dish, which was slow roasted with herb mash and fresh vegetables and I am so glad that I did. The veal was soft enough to virtually melt in your mouth. The starter was a leek and potato soup which was delicious and the wife had tomatoes on bruschetta which she said was also delicious. Her main was a chicken dish which she said was really lovely. Bear in mind we have just got back from the Cote d'Azur with their wonderful (and not so wonderful) restaurants, and this was as good as many we had been to. Lovely Rose wine with the meal which was just right - not too light and not too heavy. Daddo, who hails originally from Slovakia, has in one evening become our friend. Very lovely dining experience and I heartily recommend this restaurant.
