“Amazing setting, food like a posh wedding...”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 17, 2013

Arriving at Sketch immediately you realise you're somewhere rather different, theres a hopscotch as you walk in and the bloody stairs that lead to the lecture room leave you curious!
I requested a tour of Sketch as I'd heard so much about it and each room surpassed my expectations. The Library is fantastic, each chair and piece of cutlery is different and there's a great vibe, the pod toilets are fascinating and it all feels very Alice and Wonderland.
After the tour we were taken to the lecture room which is where we seated for the 7 course taster menu ( they have a vegetarian option ). The room is just divine and the service is fantastic, I was even provided with a table to lay my bag on - it's the little things!
Having two Michelin stars I had high expectations when the first course came, but was left a little under whelmed. The Earth and Sea, Paris Mushroom & Jelly dish was rather tasteless, the Oyster was different but didn't leave me wanting more, the Scallops were delicious but then I felt dissapointed with the Chicken. However the puddings were absolutely fantastic and our Somelier chose a superb bottle of wine which seemed to acompany every dish fantastically. The toilets in the lecture room are very quirky and deserve a visit. I've still not formed an opinion, I expected more from the food however the service and decor is just superb and definitely warrants a visit.

“Best lunch ever”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 14, 2013

We visited Sketch Lecture Room and Library today for lunch. From the moment of entering we were treated like royalty. We had the Gourmet Rapide Lunch menu and opted for three courses including water, a bottle of wine, coffee and petit fours for £53pp. Our amuse bouche were fantastic - then came the four starters each, to be eaten in the correct order ending with the fois gras with chocolate. Yum. For main course there is a choice of meat, fish or vegetarian. I had the fish (prawns with curry...) whilst my husband had slow cook veal steak, apparently the best he has ever tasted. Then came the trio of desserts. Words just can't describe how delicious it was.
Service was attentive but not over the top. The waiters were all very friendly and interacted with the customers if they wanted to talk. They were all able to explain any queries we had.
All in all a fantastic lunch. Many thanks Sketch - we will be back.

“A brilliant evening in a very charismatic restaurant”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 10, 2013

We enjoyed a fabulous evening at Sketch, and from the moment we entered and the greeeting we received the enthusiasm and professionalism of the staff was evident. Sometimes in establishments of this calibre the staff are snooty and disintersested, not so at Sketch and all our party agreed that the attention to detail by the maitre d', sommelier and waiting staff, their humour and engaging manner made a special evening brilliant. There was an element of surprise for one of the party and all of the staff from the reception desk to the restaurant ensured by their involvement that the surprise worked. As for the food it was wonderful, starting with amazing Amouse Bouches and we ate from the a la carte menu enjoying a kaleidescope of flavours, aromas, textures and colours presented in a stunning way and demonstrated a kitchen with incredible cooking skills. The wine list is superb and very sensibly priced with several wines around £25/bottle which is amazing for a restaurant of this standard, something other Michelin establishments should perhaps emulate.
There was a great buzz about the place and the decor makes it unique and very atmospheric and I am looking forward to returning to have the lunch menu.

“Totally Unique”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 10, 2013

Every year my husband and I travel down to London for the weekend and try to go to a Michelin starred restaurant when we visit. This year we decided to go to Sketch, as it had just been awarded its second star and the pictures of the restaurant made it stand out from others we have been to.
From the moment we walked into the restaurant we were made to feel like royalty by the maitre’d. He took us for a tour around the building and the other dining rooms, finishing in the Lecture Room and Library were we would be having our dinner. The room was exquisite and as we were the first diners in we could have a good look around the room and took lots of pictures.
The dining experience itself is one I will never forget. We both ate from the a la carte menu and each course was fantastic, beautifully presented and delicious. Even after having desert, we were brought out cake to celebrate our birthdays. (Although we were fit to burst at this point).
I was really worried that we would be rushed through dinner as our reservation was at 7pm. However, this was not the case, and we ended up leaving the restaurant just after 10pm.
The whole experience was unforgettable (even the toilets are like nothing I have ever seen before). Even though it was expensive, it was totally worth it.
