Description: Just a 2-minute walk from Covent Garden tube station, Cote Restaurant serves straightforward and freshly prepared French food at value for money prices in a warm and friendly atmosphere. Winner of the award for 'Best Value Restaurant in the UK' in the Good Food Guide 2009, the inspiration for the food and design comes from a modern interpretation of the many famous bistros found throughout Paris. Since the locals have turned away from overpriced and over-complicated cuisine in Paris' more formal restaurants, there has been a revived interest in returning to the simple basics of French bistro cooking. The Cote menu offers classic dishes including Steak Frites, Salad Niçoise, and free-range chicken from the Les Landes area of France. There are also lighter dishes such as Roast Sea Bass with olive oil mash and a garlic and tomato dressing, or Salmon Hollandaise. Crème Caramel and Crème Brûlée are the house specialities for dessert.

“Fantastic place!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 28, 2013

This is a fabulous French brasserie in the heart of Theatreland. Only a few minutes walk from the Covent Garden tube station and we could see our theatre (we were going to see Mamma Mia at the Novello Theatre on Aldwych) from our window seat. It was worth booking in advance (online using their website) as it felt like we were given the best table. Had a fantastic 3 course pre-theatre lunch (on a Saturday too) with a glass of wine each for only £45. Food was top quality (pudding being the best creme caramel I have ever had) and the service spot on. Would definitely recommend it!

“Another happy dining experience”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 24, 2013

Came here for a pre theatre visit & chose from the pre theatre menu which was small but perfectly formed. Had lovely courgette soup followed by grilled hake with veggies. both were cooked very well. The creme caramel was divine!! Good value wine. The waiter was charming & very efficient so we did not have to worry about time. It seems the ethos of this chain is good food & service hoorah at last people who enjoy their jobs & show it . Thank you Cote again.

A very busy restaurant on a saturday night but with great buzz and atmosphere.Described as "French " i found it not that french ,nevertheless the food was excellent, service very efficent and all in all was glad I went here. Although part of a chain it didnt feel like that. I would be happy to recommend it for its value alone !

“Extremely busy, food was good.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 22, 2013

The restaurant was very busy on our arrival at 5pm - Saturday evening (you must book or you won't get a table). We choose the fixed price (pre theatre) menu which was good and both decided to the have all three courses, although we were comfortably full after two. We are pleased we did as the Creme Caramel was like stepping into France itself... The one down side was the seating which was very cramped, indeed the lady next to us dumped her coat on top of mine and it was like going out for dinner with strangers at times, we even shared the wine cooler with the table next to us to save on space. Having said that it cost us £65 including a good bottle of wine.

“A bit pricey for what it is”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 22, 2013

Overall, good food and service but not outstanding (no "wow factor")
Went on a Saturday early evening (= very busy Covent Garden where all restaurants are almost fully booked!) and got lucky to get a table, but in the basement (which is not as nice as the main restaurant, but we knew that from the start). Our waiter was nice and professional, and service was fairly fast in the pre-theatre rush.
The menu is classic, and the quality is good. I recommend the main duck, which is delicious. Wines are tad pricey for their quality (and we didn't have much choice in the first price wines as some were unavailable)
Desserts are good as well, but without any surprise.

This place offers safe French-based food, don't expect adventurous food, but the quality is good.
