Completely awful staff and bartenders and the food was just pain burned and really bad pieces of meet. Really rethink eating here.

“Badly trained bar staff”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed December 15, 2012 via mobile

We gave up on ordering our drinks and food as bar staff were incompetent and were spending too much time on prepping wrong orders and ignoring the order of arrival of customers at the bar. Can't comment on food as 20 mins wait at a non too busy but madly ran bar meant we didn't order. Nice Christmas decorations and stools.

“It is what it is - pub grub”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 11, 2012

We had a perfectly reasonable pre theatre meal here (Hunter's chicken). We choose this pub as it was quieter atmosphere than Wetherspoon's next to theatre. The chips were sizzling hot and crispy, the salad fairly uninspiring but good to have a bit of greenery. The chicken could have spent a little longer in the microwave but it tasted fine and there was enough of it!
I really enjoyed my Swedish orange and ginger cider although the drinks were rather pricey but it's a tourist area in a capital city - you don't expect good value!
To get a gourmet meal and drink we'd have paid a darned sight more than £30 in our home town let alone London.

“Overpriced and underwhelming”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed November 30, 2012

Not recommended. £13.49 for fish and chips £11.49 for a burger. I wouldn't mind if they were good but they weren't: lukewarm and tasteless. Asked for mustard. Got mayonnaise instead. Indifferent service - ignored at the bar while people who arrived after me were served first. Do yourself a favour: go to The Lord Moon of the Mall across the road - cheaper, better food and a wider offer of much better kept beers.

“A decent pub with reasonable food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 19, 2012

A decent pub near Trafalgar Square. If you are American expecting table service, look elsewhere, but if you are used to ordering at the bar, this place works well. Busy with tourists, but not a touristy place, this pub will meet your needs. A widely varied menu may be confounding, but sitck with traditional foods (Sunday Roast, Bangers/Mash, Fish-n-Chips, etc) and you will be fine. The kitchen may take a while to get your food, but relax and enjoy a pint of your favorite. At least 4 cask ales on tap, along with plenty of ciders and other standard taps. If you are looking for fast food, get takeaway at a pasty shop somewhere else. Otherwise, sit back and enjoy the atmosphere.
