“disappointing afternoon tea”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 5, 2012

I was rather surprised that pastries were cut in half for each person to try half a pastry, even though there was more than one type.

Sandwiches were left as half a round even though the crusts were cut off. These were tasty but inelegant. However there was only egg mayonnaise, cream cheese and cucumber and smoked salmon and cream cheese.

There was one quite small scone each with jam and cream.

The very lovely pastries were cut in half for two people to share and that was quite off putting.

A tea cup was provided, with a tea bag and a
Separate pot of hot water, we were told we could have more water if we wanted it.

This does not appear to be a luxury afternoon tea.

“Caffe Concerto St Pauls”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed June 13, 2012

Bought a KGB deal voucher for a 'luxury afternoon tea for two worth £42.95'. They have to be joking. At £17 it was overpriced. Noisy music, a slight whiff of disinfectant and rubbery scones don't add up to a great experience.

Won't be going back despite the genuinely charming and welcoming staff.

“Worst experience in London ... or anywhere”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed December 11, 2011

My partner and I had the 'Cream Tea' for one each. Brought to us by a rude and inefficient staff member were two stands that contained under-baked scones that tasted like balls of flours, very forgettable and regrettable Mille-feuille and citrus tart, and the worst laundry water tasting coffee I have ever tasted in my entire life. This is not an exaggeration. I had to cross out the service charge that had been added to the bill automatically. My partner and I left with horror; we shudder every time we walk past the place.

“Caffe Concerto, Regent Street, Piccadilly”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 24, 2011

If you are in Piccadilly area in London and you want to make a stop, I suggest the caffe concerto, charming place where you can have some hot drinks and desert. Also good for breakfast, opens at 7 AM to 11 PM, 7 days a week.

“Overrated- Leave it for bankers & tourists”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed November 17, 2010

Went to the new ones at St Paul's / One New Change Centre.

Ate in the evening- decent Italan fare & good looking cakes.
Very cold inside & austere- trying to be like a continental cafe, but lacking in warmth or atmosphere. service very slow & felt like we were bothering them if we asked for anything.
Risotto was very good & piping hot.
Well overpriced though - could get much better at many Italians for 50 % less in town.
12.5 % service charged added automatically- grrrrrrr.
Will probably feed over people who can't get into jamie wotsit's new place around the corner, or gordon f'in ramsay's - but not really worth a visit.
