Description: "Listed in Tattlers restaurant guide 2007 under the Best of British section, Butlers Restaurant is part of the Chesterfield Hotel just off Berkley Square in the heart of Mayfair. The décor of rich reds and greens with English oil paintings is perfect for romantic dinners as well as being superb for discreet business meetings. The Sunday lunch in Butler’s restaurant is still a firm favourite, where you can enjoy succulent rib of beef from the carving trolley or a delightful trio of crème brulée. Staff are friendly in a relaxed yet formal atmosphere. What’s cooking? Modern British fare such as calves liver and bacon with caramelised shallots and mash potato or whole Dover sole grilled and served with sauce hollandaise, witch is famed for being the best in London. Some real old time tempters for desert such as sticky toffee pudding, honeycomb ice cream, butterscotch cheese cake, all made by their own pastry chef."

We had a lovely afternoon tea when we were in London at the Chesterfield. It cost you a lot of money, but it's worth it. Lovely bakery and sandwiches and very friendly people over here!

“Great restaurant, Outstanding service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 19, 2012

I’ve lived in London my whole life and never knew about this restaurant. If it hadn’t been for TasteCard I still wouldn’t. What a great find!!! My brother and I dined here last night and we were very impressed. I’ve travelled extensively and eaten out at many restaurants and Butlers is up there with the best of them. The first thing I noticed was the décor, it was like stepping back in time, in a good way, old elegance. The second was genuine friendly staff, which I will explain further in my review. Let’s get to the food; we had a choice of bread prior to our starters, I recommend the potato and rosemary with the Hawaiian salt, fantastic. We then had crab cakes for starters, which came with delicious tomato chutney and were cooked to perfection. For main, I had the king prawn stroganoff made with cream and brandy and just the right amount of seasoning and my brother chose the roast chicken with potatoes (crispy on the outside and fluffy in the middle – perfect), vegetables and gravy, again delicious. For dessert we went for the crepe suzette, flambéed at the table. They were also cooked to perfection with just the right amount of Gran Marnier and orange zest. My brother had the flight choice of wine, which meant the ssommelier chose 3 different wines (50ml each glass) that complements each dish. Good value at £14
Back to the service; the service in this restaurant is impeccable. It’s not often you go out to eat and find the staff happy to serve and genuinely enjoying what they do. I haven’t come across it for a long time and it really made the evening fly by. It’s one of the few places that doesn’t rush you out the door, but is happy to let you eat leisurely and spend 3 hours enjoying your meal and the ambience of the restaurant. The music is pleasant and not loud so you can hear yourself talk. The waiters are discreet, so much so, you don't even notice them topping up your glass. I would definitely recommend this restaurant. Loris and the rest of the team are in different class and others could learn a lot from them. And with the TasteCard the meal was extremely reasonable for this calibre of restaurant. I will be going back
