London is an expensive city and when a dear friend gave us gift certificates to the dinner and opera experience at Bel Canto, I was not sure what to expect. My brother had been there before and being a true opera aficionado, he had told us that he had thoroughly enjoyed the evening. However, I thought that if the musicians were good, then the food would just be so so. What a surprise!! The evening started out with a wonderful pianist playing selections from Mozart's opera. Dinner was a selection of 3 courses (which is what was on our gift certificate) although you could have a choice of 2 (starter and main) or even 4 courses. In between courses, our servers became our entertainers and sang selections from Mozart, Puccini, etc/ They were mostly Italian operas and as the evening went on, they also sang as duos, quartets and of course solos. There were 2 tenors, a soprano and a contralto. All of them were wonderful!! They also chatted with us and it was fun learning where they were from and what they did when they were not at Bel Canto. By the way, these singers do not stop singing until the last patron leaves. Although I wanted to stay till the end, we were the 2nd to last to leave and it was 11:30pm. I would say it was very good value for the money and I had to give these incredible musicians a very good tip - please be generous and do tip them!
We went by bus and I agree with another reviewer in that parking is difficult and the best way is by public transportation. If you love opera or just love music, this is a restaurant you must go to!!
