“Mayfair London”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 10, 2010

Very lovely hotel with a great location. Rooms are very large and comfortable. Bathrooms new and modern. Location terrific and only one block from Green Park Tube Station. Breakfast very good and included in the price of my reservation. Bar was very nice but very very loud and crowded. WiFi throughout the hotel as an added plus and at no charge

I stayed at The Mayfair with my husband for our Anniversary and we had, apparently, a deluxe room with a terrace. We arrived to the doorman being more interested in the parade of girls waiting for some celebrity outside than the guests; including us. No one opened doors or explained properly were to park the car...they seemed shocked that we did not want to spend £45.00 a night valet parking in the same car park self park is £15.00 ! Reception staff were nice..although we waited and waited for our room...it was way past check in time and no one even offered us a drink or apology ! The room was, to be honest, a complete waste of money. It was SMALL, really small. the bed was comfy but the bedstead overhanged the matress and as the room was so small we both spend all day banging into it ! The terrace idea was lovely...but it was just white walls...nothing to look at and all the other guests overlooked it so absoluelty NO privacy at all. .and NOT ONCE was the terrace cleaned or cleared of mugs, plates etc...we had to do this ourselves !!! The hotel is also noisy at night - banging doors echo through the corridors. Also forget it if you want a drink/food in the "famous" cocktail bar during the week...its full of non-residents having work lunches and meetings. There are no priviledges for a table if you are staying. The Amba bar is nice..if the staff would smile but it lacks atmosphere in there ! Dont even bother about the 2 for 1 food offer with the room booking....the guy in Amba told me to let reception know when I check out and reception said Amba should have sorted...so hence no offer was given and I could not be bothered to argue. We were terribly disapointed by this hotel...it seems that they are just waiting for the next celeb to walk in...when there are plenty of people around (including us) that have money to spend. I work in the UK travel industry and I would certainly not recommend this hotel. I cannot tell you enough how truly disappointed we were, we spent the entire time wishing we had booked somewhere else !

The staff were very friendly and helpful throughout our stay we had, the room was really nice. The hotel listened to our requests and delivered them in full.
I would not hesitate to re-book on any return to London, with regards to total experience this would be one of and more probable one of the best hotels we have ever stayed in.

By taking advantage of their on-line booking service, the rates were extremely competitive with other top rated London Hotels. Free wireless was an added bonus. Staff were attentive, the location couldnt be better (easy access to the tube) and the room had everything I needed.

The Mayfair Hotel is perfectly situated for a great break in London. The rooms are fantastic and the location is superb. The kids were welcomed and we felt very relaxed and comfortable.

I'd recommend it and I will be returning.

The concierge is very knowledgeable with great maps and directiosn to all your site. They provide inside tips of times to view spots and recommend great places to eat. Nobu is just right outside the hotel in viewing distance to the left (coming out). Watch out for paparazzi that hang outside. Matthew Perry (i think) was at our hotel at the same time. Great hotel, amazing service- I would recommend to anyone.
