Stayed at these self catered apartments last week for 5 days with my husband and son. It was less than a 10 minute walk to the Tube stop, so pretty convenient for getting to most of the main tourist attractions. The studio apartment we rented had a very clean, well equipped kitchen. This was convenient as often we would tour all day and be too tired to go out for food, so just to have the luxury to stay in and heat up some soup was great. The Tesco is literally next door, so we got a few essentials there. Keep in mind, we did have to walk about 10 minutes to get to any choice of restaurants, so don't expect a lively neighborhood in the immediate vicinity. It is pretty charmless.
I paid 115 pounds a night, so compared to other hotels in the area, I think we got a lot for what we paid for. It also had a sofa bed that they made up for our son to sleep in. The sofa bed was next to the kitchen. The apartment is an open floor plan, so basically it is one narrow room that divides into bathroom, bedroom, kitchen and living/dining area, window. I think for two people, it is probably the right size.
The cons: the bathroom has a clouded glass door to it, so not the most private of spaces. Also, the bathroom is too close to the bedroom and the ventilation I found to be a bit poor. The shower door leaks water. Easily solved with a few towels but would be nice to have a good seal on it so you are not constantly using towels to sop up the water. My advice, bring a few small extra towels with you if you can to avoid paying the extra towel fee. I would also bring a wash cloth, as that was not provided either. Finally, just not enough storage space to put away all your stuff. Could do with some more closet space. Walking around all felt rather tight because we had the sofa bed opened for our son.
What was nice was that they had shampoo, conditioner and soap already furnished. They also had the kitchen supplied with some small packets of instant coffee, some tea and a couple of biscuits and a fresh kitchen cloth to wipe up messes. Nice touch I thought. Free WiFi was also much appreciated. My husband had to work that week and the connection was excellent. Also, it was dead silent. Much appreciated.
Overall, I would stay here again, but perhaps splurge on a slightly bigger apartment. With three people, it is a bit cramped.
