“Upscale pub”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 30, 2013

Had fish and chips and a couple of pints. Good food and excellent service. Beautiful woodwork and ornamental ceiling surround a central bar and chandelier.

“Interesting period pub, good at its business, near Bank of England”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 30, 2013

This is a good choice for a visitor to the City of London (i.e. the Old Financial District). Just down the road from the Bank of England, this preserved / converted 19th Century Banking hall operates briskly and efficiently, serving up reliable meals (pies, fish n chips, salads), and a good selection of beers.

Staff are friendly and efficient, service is swift, and the prices are not unreasonable in one of the more expensive parts of London. And, bless their cotton socks, the background music is unnoticeable, and the general noise level is reasonable - unlike many large pubs in London (such as the Pitcher and Piano) where you have to shout to talk to the person next to you.

It's just good at what it does.

“Brilliant!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 18, 2013

If you are looking for something other than the regular course of tourists pubs then this place is for you. It is located downtown in the financial district and frequented by local business men and women, especially during lunch. They are famous for their traditional pies and I can see why. I had the mushroom and chicken pie and my daughter had the butternut squash and goat cheese pie. Both were incredible. We went for lunch and the place is full of 9 to 5'er suits so we were definitely the only tourists in the place. Easy tube ride to Bank street. Great selection of English ales on draft and friendly local atmosphere.

“Good venue, helpful staff, nice food.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 22, 2013

The Counting House isn't special, its just very good at being what it is,

Decent Fullers pub, extensive bar, good selection of beers, attentive staff. Want a meal? they've a balcony with lots of table, and a whole room. Its a sizeable venue. An excellent pie selection. I can heartily recommend the butternut squash and goats cheese pie. Other pies are available. I'm told they are equally delicious: by frenchmen no less.

Had a very good business lunch. Seated, well served, our misunderstanding accommodated with good grace. So, good customer service.

Generally, a nice venue.

Well worth a visit.

“Nice pub converted from a bank.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 27, 2013 via mobile

Nice pub in the centre of London. Good atmosphere. Bit pricey but so is London as a whole. Busy after work so be prepared to stand and be knocked about a bit.
