“An excellent choice”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 days ago NEW

I seem to be on a mission these days to try every IHG property in the area and following the disappearance of the Crowne Plaza in St-James's Park, I tried many. I think I finally found the one.

First of all, it's literally one minute from Paddington station, so coming and leaving with the Heathrow Express, this is a great location. While the hotel is not brand new, it's still very recent and modern. Pleasant on the eyes. The only thing that didn't make sense is the lack of power outlets by the beds, but at the same time, all the freebies (sparkling water, crisps, even some champagne one night!) in the room sort of make up for it.

I also have to commend the staff. While they still seem to be learning the ropes, they are incredibly willing to assist, with a genuine smile to booth. One tip to the team: make sure you inform your elite customers when they get a room upgrade.

Oh and one big surprise. Their free wi-fi is the fastest I have seen in all IHG hotels around the world. While the others like to throttle it and charge a premium for faster internet, this one just gives it all. That, to me, is probably the key argument why I will be back.

Stayed here for one night and overall I had a drama free stay in a comfortable, if small, room. Nice soft touches added value and the room was clean and had quality fixtures and finishes.

Location - about 2 mins walk from Paddington - I followed exit signs for Praed St (there are multiple exits) - this will bring you out on a road that leads to some traffic lights. Straight ahead is London St, and the hotel is on the right hand side with your back to Paddington. You won't miss it once on London St.

Check in / out & service generally - I got the feeling that staff they I encountered were all new. However, they were polite and friendly. Whilst not as polished in their customer service skills as I usually get with IHG Hotels, they did their jobs well & everything was correct.

I was given an upgrade as a Platinum member of the IHG Rewards Club, although nobody mentioned this - the hotel sells itself short here! I only knew when I saw on the App that my room category had changed to an exec room.

Room - my room, 303, was compact but very comfortable. The small sofa was more comfortable than it looked.

It had a lot of extra bits and pieces - a Nespresso machine with 3 pods provided for free, plenty of teas, got chocolate, a bag of crisps, and in the minibar a generous 4 bottles of water and some coke / diet coke and orange juice - all included. This is a Hotel Indigo brand standard but some embrace it more than others. This was a generous offering and was great.

The bed itself was quite firm, but still comfortable - and the bedding was great.

Flatscreen tv had the usual channels.

Bathroom was compact, but had a reasonably powerful walk in shower (no bath) and toiletries by The White Company. Large fluffy towels and bathrobes and slippers were also provided.

There wasn't much space for your own toiletries so 2 people sharing a room may find it a bit tight.

Room was decorated in muted, neutral, colours - not to my taste but still to a good standard with a good finish. The wifi was fast and included.

No real street noise - London St seemed quiet on a Monday night. I suspect a Friday or Saturday may be different, but it is London.

Now on to the negatives - 3 things.
Firstly, in room storage was very limited. I imagine, given the hotel's proximity to Paddington (and name) it is targeting people flying out of Heathrow - who could use the Heathrow Express, which runs from Paddington. I would have expected more storage space - the wardrobe was so tight, with the ironing board in, that I struggled to close the door when two jackets, a pair of trousers and a coat had been out in there (proper wooden coat hangers a big plus though). As a tip, if suggest people travelling with lots of luggage and using this hotel as a stop over to pack a separate overnight bag and leave the bulk of luggage with front desk.

Negative 2 was that, whilst street noise wasn't an issue, internal noise was a bit of a problem. I was awoken by housekeeping in the corridor at 8:20 - doors slamming etc.

Thirdly - why are there no power outlets by the bed? Why do hotels find this so difficult?

Food / Drink - I ordered room service at 10:15pm after arrival and was on to the 24 hour menu, since the main restaurant had stopped service. Room service was brilliant. Food quality was top notch - 24 hour menu included lasagna (both beef and veggie, if you're interested), some other pasta dishes, salads or soup. I had a lovely broccoli and Stilton soup and beef lasagna. Served relatively promptly, good portions, and overall not bad value for money.

Overall, I would stay again if I wanted to be in that area - didn't explore the locality but it looked quite quirky.

We came to London for a 2 night break, not knowing much about where to book I found it very confusing and a real headache but we got lucky, the Hotel was a bit out of town but we were really close to paddington station so no issue there. room was a little on the small side but that is quite common in a city hotel, it was warm, clean and adequate for our needs so all good.

Very clean, nice hotel. Located in a real neighborhood so you can experience London. Supermarket and pubs right down the street; metro literally 3 minutes away so the tube can take you quickly to all the sites. Definitely would stay here again.

Great customer service, nice modern rooms, so close to Paddington and some nice restaurants in the area. You can get to pretty well anywhere on the tube once you're here. The hotel's staff was friendly, courteous and couldn't do enough to make sure the stay exceeded expectations. Would highly recommend this hotel to anyone travelling through London. Nice breakfast in the morning, rooms also have TV's mounted with access to satellite and movies.

Room Tip: Room 110 has a nice outside terrace for the summer....modern bathroom and ok size room. nice and qui...

Walking down the street you wouldn't pay it too much attention but a fantastic hotel. The staff were friendly and helpful and having a fitness room was fantastic. The breakfast was fantastic as were their toiletries in the bathrooms. Very clean and comfotable too. We had a massive room and bathroom too.

We spent seven nights at the Hotel Indigo - Paddington the second week of January. We had an executive room, 301. Room 301 is directly opposite the elevator and I had a moment of concern that this would be a bad location regarding noise. Not so, the room was quite quiet with a little background noise from the street. Noise, mentioned regarding this hotel in other reviews was not an issue at all.

The room was clean and of adequate size, the shower was as good as at home and the people at the front desk were great. The bed was great and the television was working perfectly (although watching the terror event in Paris 24/7 was not a posiitive for the trip).

The location makes this hotel nearly perfect. Being able to take the train in from Heathrow and be less than a five minute walk down the street directly opposite the exit from the terminal is a huge plus after a long airplane and short train ride into town. Then, the Tube is the same two hundred yards from the hotel and armed with a pre-bought Oyster Card for the Tube, one can begin their business or pleasure within seconds of the decsion to do so. Finally, we were at Heathrow on the way home within twenty-five minutes of leaving the hotel on the way home.

Highly recommend.
