“Contemporary and adequate”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 11, 2012

This is a very well manged boutique hotel and by far my preferred hotel in London after many visits. It's a stone's throw from Paddington station which means you can easily walk there from the station after arriving on the Express, and leave just as efficiently for the airport.

The rooms are on the small side but everything works well, which is important on a business trip. Housekeeping does a good job and the decor is tasteful and everything is fresh and clean. There is a small but adequate gym in the basement and the cosy restaurant on the ground floor serves simple but good meals.

Staff are mainly foreign. The service is helpful and polite.

Room Tip: Rooms facing London Street are best, particularly on higher floors.

The Indigo Paddington is in a comfortable neighborhood, one and a half blocks from Paddington Station. From here one can catch a surface train or the tube. There are numerous restaurants within a block of the hotel. The hotel provides bathrobes and slippers. Our first stay was on the second floor, quiet and efficiently appointed with desk, queen bed, very large bathroom by European standards with an amazing shower, hair dryer, large flat screen TV. Our second stay was on the first floor (second for us Americans) with a small patio with table and chairs. Too bad it was raining! Small lobby, cafe attached. Friendly staff, will keep your luggage if you arrive early morning. We would definitely go back here.

Room Tip: Both rooms, on first floor and on second, were quiet. Best to ask for a room away from the street si...

Stayed 2 nights after touring Great Britian and my favorite spot! Exceedingly helpful, very pleasant, literally bent over backwards to ensure I had a wonderful stay. Rooms are small but very luxurious as is the bathroom. Very close to the tube and nice area. Hotel had wonderful food-had the sea bass and was wonderful. If I ever get back to England, I would not hesitate to stay here again. Excellent room, customer service, and very courteous and helpful.

Room Tip: A bit pricey but soo worth the cleanliness and the beds

Last minute booking after internet search for hotel close to train station. Terrific room-not vast but covered every base. Great shower etc. Food in restaurant adequate. Reception staff etc first class. Would definitely stay again

My husband and I stayed in queen bedded room 412 for 6 nights. The room was a most livable configuration. The pics that others have posted mirror our room. It had a desk and keyboard tucked into the corner by the bathroom door. We were apprehensive about the "bowl" sink, but it was large enough for my husband's shaving, and for washing out some clothes during the week. We dried the items on the heated towel rack. The stopper is a "push and pop-up" variety. The water was instantly hot and the "rain" shower and hand-held shower both worked well in the very large shower stall. Toilet flushed well. A/C worked, TV worked. Although we were on the street side of the building, noise dams and heavy sound proof shades were installed in the windows. We really didn't hear any street noise except an occasional "woop" coming from the pub down the street during soccer games, probably because we left the shades up always. The park across the street was opposite our room, which added to the quiet. The room refrigerator was stocked each day with complimentary lemonade, pepsi, and both still and bubbly water which is a real perk! Paddington tube station is at the end of the street, and Paddington rail station is conveniently 1.5 blocks away- we used the Brit Rail Pass each day. There were numerous take-away and reasonably priced restaurants, deli, coffee, and liquour shops in Praed and London streets, in addition to food in Paddington rail station itself. The Italian restaurant a few doors away was excellent. The desk staff were extremely helpful throughout, and arranged a taxi to take us to Victoria station, since we went on an excursion before the later Sunday 7:00 am tube opening. They got us into our room earlier than 2:00 upon arrival. A minor daily problem was confusion with off and on getting the full compliment of 2 washcloths in our room. We always carry washcloths in Europe so this was just a puzzlement, not an inconvenience. Each day if we were in, there would be a knock on our door from a maid with a basket of chocolates, toiletries, etc. asking if all was ok with the room, but invariably when we asked about obtaining a second washcloth if it was missing that day, we were told sorry there were none left. (If we weren't in the room, the maids turned down the beds each night.) Also provide a soap for both the sink and the shower each week so they don't have to keep being switched. We used our own soap in the shower, although shower gel was provided. One day, we returned to find long black hair (not ours) wrapped around the used soap for the basin, so maids should be cautioned about this. Another minor problem was that the only trash can was a very tiny one in the bathroom. We ended up using our own plastic shopping bags to store larger trash objects like empty soda cans, or stacked them by the toilet each day. The rooms are very hi-tech, so far as electric switches. There is a master switch for the room by the door that needs your room key inserted in it to work. Then there are switches by the bed for the bathroom. Other switches for the TV, night light, (useful) "snake" reading light, bed lamps, floor lamp, and the pc keyboard we presume, and who knows what else. We were amazed, out of this abundance, to find that the only socket for the hairdryer in the room was so far across the room from the dressing mirror that I had to sit on the bed and dry my hair without being able to see in the mirror each day. There was no socket in the bathroom either for the hairdryer. We would suggest to management that they reduce the number of purely decorative pillows and bolsters on the bed. It looks good in photos, but they took up a whole corner of the floor each night; excluding the time it took for us to remove them before falling dead tired on the bed. I think maids would be done 5 minutes sooner in each room if there were just the regular pillows. Apart from our minor comments, this was one of the best places we have stayed in England, and we would highly recommend it and stay again.

Room Tip: I would think the farther above the street the better. Ours was at the end of the hallway, away fro...

I have stayed at this hotel several times and have previously written a positive review. The hotel remains clean, the bedding somewhat comfortable, and the rooms a decent size. Room furnishings are nice. The staff were very helpful. One of the most positive things about the hotel is nearby location of train stations (Paddington) and good restaurants. I do wonder now whether I will stay here again, perhaps because the room seemed a bit expensive. The hotel offers an hour of free wifi daily, they now charge about 12GBP if more internet access is desired. In the future I will explore less expensive options and I'm somewhat optimistic that there are better values out there.
