“Overall a nice place to stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 3, 2014

Family of five stayed in a 2 bedroom flat for a week. Large bedroom with queen, smaller bedroom with 2 twins, and cot in living room. Kitchen, dining room and living room share a third large room. Re-modelled bath. Beds could use an upgrade, the twins and cot especially as they were somewhat deformed from overuse. Carpeting was worn and could have been cleaner. Nice neighborhood, but 30-45 minutes walk/tube ride to most locations, so we tended to remain out the entire day. There is a Tesco and other convenience stores 5 minutes away and a nice bakery outside the Barons Ct station. We only used the kitchen for breakfasts which worked out well, eating other meals in would be difficult with provided utensils/cookware. Owners were helpful and friendly. Would definitely consider again.

Period of stay: 14-16 October 2013 in Castletown Studio.

Being first time travellers to the UK, we relied heavily on the reviews given via tripadvisor before going ahead to confirm our booking. And we certainly wasn't disappointed with our choice! Here's why:

Initially booked and made 50% payment for a week's stay but due to changes in our itinerary, we had to shorten our booking to just 2.5 days. Mark (the owner) was very understanding and helpful to made the changes for us and arranged for the part refund of the payment made.

It's very easy to get to the apartment; nearest station is West Kensington station, less than 10 mins walk.Nearby, there's a Carphone Warehouse, 24-hour Tesco, a local minimart, and other shops. There's a thai restaurant as well as two indian eateries. Thus, halal food was no problem for us.

Checking in was a breeze. Mark was really friendly and made us feel at ease. We were going to Wembley to watch the england vs poland match the next day and he showed us directions.

We booked the Castletown Studio and it's located at the basement of the building.

Apartment was really cosy. Well lit, clean, smelled fresh. There was a queen-sized bed with side tables, iphone dock and alarm clock, dining table, wardrobe (with extra pillows, ironing board), sofa, flat-screen tv, mini fridge, microwave, washing machine, cooker hob & hood, sink, and an assortment of glasses, plates and cutleries.

Bathroom was spacious, brightly lit, clean. Generous amount of soaps, shampoos. Ample towels. Standing shower with heater.

We had own wifi router and signals were very strong. We managed to video call our family clearly and smoothly without any lags.

Sleep quality was amazing as the bed was really comfortable. Plushy pillows and the warm and thick duvet pretty much got us knocked out each night there. :)

Checking out was a breeze as well. Coming from Asia where we need to sign out upon check-out, we had to call Mark on his mobile as there wasn't anyone at reception desk. He had to come by from nearby to take the keys from us. Only then we knew that we could just leave the keys in the room before leaving.

All in all, we really loved our stay in castletown and was really sorry that our stay was so short. We will definitely stay there again!

Room Tip: castletown studio is definitely more than spacious for couples.

To Mark and his wonderful team at Castletown House,

Christmas greetings from India!

We have such warm memories of our summer holiday at Castletown in May this year. It was our first experience of living in London, but we had such a lovely stay because Castletown House was located so close to the underground station and well connected to all the sightseeing we wanted to do. It was comforting to discover that our apartment was exactly like what we had read on tripadvisor and more. Since we were travelling with three teenagers, we wanted an efficient washing machine as well as a well equipped kitchen. We found all these as well as good restaurants and a Tesco outlet nearby. We look forward to staying at Castletown if we visit London again.

So, thanks, Mark for a smooth and efficient check in and check out as well as all the little touches in our three bed apartment that made our stay there so memorable.

Wishing you and your team all the very best for 2014

With warm regards,

The Thomases

Room Tip: Pack light - the place is just like home!

We stayed here after being recommended by a friend that stayed the previous year.
Awesome experience it was affordable, clean, compact with all mod cons and private as you didn't have to go through reception if you didn't need to.
Proprietor was very helpful and friendly with all matters. Very conveniently situated to tube station, restaurants, convenience stores and bar.
Would most definitely not only stay there again when we need to visit London but also recommend it to anyone who needs affordable and comfortable accommodation themselves.

Stayed here in a one bedroom apartment for five night with my husband and my son. Location is really perfect, near the train station and local shops, restaurants and supermarket. Staffs here very service minded and very helpful. The apartment is clean, the kitchenette is fully equips and I strongly recommended it for any single traveller or with family.

We recently stayed in the 3 bedroom apartment. For us, it was like a home away from home. After spending the last month staying in various quality accommodation all over Europe, it was fantastic to have kitchen and laundry facilities, not to mention a good size TV! The apartment was well equipped in all areas. The internet connection was fantastic, fast, and reliable. The location is also great - close to the tube, with plenty of local shops including supermarkets within a few minutes walk.

Unfortunately though, we found the apartment to be dirty - the fridge had a very bad smell, there was dust and rubbish under most furniture (moved to get to power points of course), and a significant amount of mould in one of the showers.

One other minor complaint was the curtains on the bedrooms - the vertical blinds simply do not block enough light in this location.

Given the value and overall comfort and convenience, we'd overlook these complaints and stay here again.
