“Staff with attitude problem, unable to sleep, safety issues, overprice lockers...”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed June 13, 2013 via mobile

'This is a party hostel'.This is what the kid at the reception argumented when I kindly asked to be given another bed after being unable to sleep for over 24 hours. To check in I had to wait over 30 minutes with other guests because the lady receptionist was too busy chatting up with 3 young males.I was given a bottom bed in a 18 dorm corner with broken curtain(the only defect one for me yay)and surrounded by a group of males with behaviour issues that had thrown all their stuff on the floor(tripping hazard)and using their phone to play music.Cold showers and unflushables floating in the toilet on top of dirty sheets await you.Overpriced lockers near the bar is the only option to get your luggage safe. The 2 for 1 vouchers were a rip off I was charged 4.20£ for a corona. I raised my concerns with staff who offered no solution and were insulting and discriminating towards age and the fact am a single traveller.I checked out one night before due date without refund or consideration.Don't go unless you are a drug user or expect some trouble.Am reporting them to the relevant authorities.

If you're traveling solo and on a budget, you cant do better than this. I arrived in London late at night after a long flight and the hostel was pretty easy to get to ( last thing I needed then was get lost in a city I knew nothing about) You can take the Piccadilly line from Heathrow to Hammersmith and the Hostel is directly across the street when you leave the station. I was able to check in and get in to my bed within 15 mins. Friendly staff, clean facilities and a great bar downstairs. There's a decent free breakfast in the morning with cereal, toast, juice & coffee/tea. Free wifi ( although you need to go down to the bar to get good reception). In terms of rooms, I would recommend the 18 bed pod which costs less and gives you more privacy ( compared to the other smaller rooms which are just bunk beds, this one gives each bed a wall and a thick curtain around the bed which is amazing.) There's a nice place to lock up your stuff under the bed so bring a pad lock! And for more security, there are electronic lockers downstairs which you can rent for around 1.50 for 12 hrs. You can sleep well most nights except on Saturdays when the bar hosts a party or something and there's a crappy DJ pumping garbage tunes up to your room until around 2am or so. Also make sure to get up at around 6.30 or so to get the best showers before anyone use them. The location is also convenient and close to everywhere. So yeah, my first time hostel experience was great and I would consider staying here again.

Room Tip: Get the 18 bed pod!

Had a great first time Hostel experience, clean, friendly staff, cheap meals in the bar and a great atmosphere! As an older, single, first time backpacker, female, I was initially concerned, but the staff explained everything to me. 8 room mixed dorm, quiet, had no hassles! Will definitely be staying here next time I'm in London!

First impression of the hostel was very good. They are very organised and the crew explained me very clearly how the hostel worked and about everything I would need (toilets, shower, internet, bag lockers). They were also very nice and asked several times if I needed any help about London. However, for the price of the hostel (I paid around 30 pounds for a night in an 8 people sharing room) was a bit expensive for what it offered: the rooms are not clean and the pillow was on of the most uncomfortable I have tried.

This was a very last minute booking for me as a friend from way out of town was swinging by to London for a week. I was already booked into Berlin so really needed a last minute, low cost booking for the capital, central but nearby to where she was staying. This is what I got. I really can't fault it too much but it does lose points in certain areas, as follows.

1. There doesn't seem to be a kitchen so for food and drinks you are either reliant on supermarkets/street vendors or if you are flush, a restaurant. But lets face it, if you're staying in a hostel you ain't fine dining as standard. On the positive side the Hostel does serve food and drink, although this is not exactly cheap and cheerful.

2. there is no computers to use the internet, so unless you have a wireless device you are using one of the local internet cafes in close vicinity. Getting just a couple of cheap terminals would save guests a lot of hassle.

3. On the Thursday when I checked in, there was no indications that there would be a night club at the hostel, so needless to say when I turned up at the hostel on the Thursday evening, I wasn't expecting to be met by door staff. I understand that they're there for our safety and to keep out undesirables but not everyone wants to, or can, sleep in a night club and a part of me thought I might get refused entry.

4. Lockers. There are some but they're outsourced to a 3rd party company and are located in the basement, so on the Thursday I had to traipse through the lounge, which was now a night club to fish out my nightware, and then walk back through the lounge/night club to go back to my dorm room/bed. The lockers aren't expensive, but in the event of a problem you would have to contact this faceless 3rd party online locker company to request that they release your goods from storage. Not ideal but then at least they had lockers.

On the positive side, it was clean. It was very, very cheap. it was conveniently located, the staff were very friendly and helpful and the bar wasn't too expensive. It was okay for a few nights but I think a week here would be pushing it.

My son and his mate ran the London marathon today. We called in the Belushi/St Christopher's Inn just before beginning our 3 hour drive home. The girl on the reception was amazingly helpful and let the boys use the showers which was just what they needed after running 26.2 gruelling miles. We stayed for drinks and had delicious meals and are now safely home. Thank you so much for your kindness, it has rounded off a great marathon weekend. I can only say that if the accommodation here is anywhere near as good as the staff it must be a fabulous place to stay. We will definitely be back. Thank you once again.

I lived here on and off for two months, the staff were great and the location was ideal. Its very rare that you stumble upon a CLEAN hostel. I slept in the 18 bed dorm (mixed), girls who travel alone shouldn't be afraid of these. They are cheaper than the girls only dorms and you get to meet heaps more people to travel with. They have little curtains that you can close off you bed to, change/sleep if that's an issue for you. The female only dorms don't have these magic curtains. the food is cheap and great. if you get up early enough there is toast and nutella waiting for you downstairs. But being on a busy London street earplug are a must. i recommend the ones from Kathmandu (pack of 5).
