We also have a strong relationship with an excellent/competitive local Taxi company to help take you home late if you wish.
Description: The Prince of Wales located in the Upper Richmond Road in Putney is a brilliantly chic and contemporary British boozer. The restored nineteenth century facade belies the gastropub's stylish and cosy interior, and the light-filled dining room is always busy with a creative young crowd. The Prince of Wales menu boasts rustic traditional English dishes such as the crispy pig, dandelion and apple salad; lamb fritters with caper relish; hare and potato pie for two; and beer battered haddock with pea pure, tartare sauce and chips. Perfect for long, lazy Sunday lunches and nights out with friends, the restaurant at The Prince of Wales is a welcome addition to the Putney pub scene.

“Good food and service”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 27, 2013

We found this attractive pub from a web search for somewhere to eat after a visit to Wimbledon. It has a good pub atmosphere. I had a traditional plate of battered haddock while my wife went for lamb. Service could have been quicker but was friendly. We managed to park but this might be difficult if you were less lucky.

“A very unhygienic Plaice”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed June 22, 2013 via mobile

My husband and I have visited this restaurant a few times but tonight's visit makes me think that perhaps the chef or management has been changed. After politely pointing out that my plaice had about a tablespoon of dark brown 'you know what' on the business end and two disgusting organs still attached the response was an unconvincing 'err... the chef apologises' and to add insult to injury the bill arrives fully priced with service charge included. While we accept that mistakes do happen the way it was handled afterwards was more upsetting then the foul memory of my dish.

I want to apologise on behalf of the team at the Prince Of Wales for your disappointing experience - I would like to assure you that the team take the utmost care when preparing & cooking food - on this occasion someone has taken their eye off the ball, most unlike them.

“Potential but must try harder”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 20, 2013

I'm being tongue in cheek in terms of the title. I always want to be very encouraging of this type of venture - trying to bring innovative, well cooked food on a more informal basis - but I don't think they're quite there yet. I just had tempura soft shell crab with a mango salsa - nice meaty crab, lovely ripe mango, not convinced about the batter but in any event therefore small for a main course & a bit pricey at at £11.50 on the basis it was more of a starter size. But I'm sure there's a lot of potential here - liked the look of their set lunch for £8.50 (main & glass of wine) but again now wonder about the portions. On a practical note I know they're trendy - but the slate on which my crab arrived was a bit of a disaster. The food kept slipping off it as you were trying to eat - less aesthetic & more practicality please.

“Best meal for long time”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 27, 2013

Had a wonderful meal here. fish platter with squid ink dip. I gained the most beautiful beetroot sorbet also to go with it. To follow succulent lamb and lovely veg. Shared a small cheese platter as condition of fullness had hit at this point. Puds looked gorgeous though. Budget at around £35-40 which included pre dinner drink and wine with meal. Made to feel very comfortable by very efficient staff. Highly recommend.

“Pricy, but mostly worth it”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 7, 2013

We've eaten here on a few occasions, the food has always been of a high standard however you do pay for it.

Most of the restaurant itself is in a part of the pub separate from the main bar. the pub itself is also lovely, it serves good guest ales and there is always a good crowd in there, especially on sunny evenings after work and on the weekend.

I've always found the restaurant staff to be friendly and attentive - on one occasion the wine we ordered was off and they changed it with no fuss which was appreciated.

The food is always great, I've never had a bad meal - generally you receive a lovely warm slice of bread with butter to start - the type of bread tend to change every time I've visited but is always very, very tasty. The menu itself consists of around 10 starters and 10 mains and can be found on the website if you want a look before visiting.

All in all, good service, really good food but it will leave a dent in your wallet, a meal for two (starters and mains, a shared dessert and a bottle of wine came to about £80)
